very lucky for you & your DS that you have convienent logistic support that allow him to sleep late.

My DS is in PM session too. Each school day, I would have to wake up him up by 7:15am so as to bring him to my in-law place before I go to work. And he would only reached home after 8pm (luckily fed and bathed) and bedtime is 9:30pm. We have only about an hour for homework, some bonding and his playtime.

No longer lucky 😒 Now very hectic because of morning session. It's almost 3 weeks now since school start, we're still not able to stabilize the situation (still feel like rushing every night)...sigh

This is so true. I recalled that when my no. 1 went to P1, it was a big adjustment for us. It didn't helped that my no. 2 and 3 stays with my mum during the weekdays while no. 1 stays with us.

Every night, we would be rushing around between my mum and our place so as to ensure that we can see all of them. It led to suboptimisation.

It helped alittle when my no. 2 goes to P1 last year and both of them are in the same house. But I ended up seeing no. 3 only on weekends as I had to guide the 2 older ones in the evening. We are trying to find a reasonable preschool around our place for no. 3 so that we can have economies of scale when it comes to studying at night. Unfortunately, I can't find something ideal so far...

Then this year with no. 1 in P3 (AM session) and no. 2 in P2 (PM session), this created new challenges. We have to be home early as now bedtime must be by 10pm (latest) so that my P3 can wake up early. So we need to be home by 7.30pm and drive them to bath, do their homework and revision. We are still trying to settle down.

          Hi All,

Normally the kid can be stretch until what time then they really too tired to continue? We are both working parents, presuming we go home on the dot (Even the boss angry also no chocie) we the most only have the evening to supervise the homework from school. The next morning is totally out for us as we have to go work again. :!:
In our case, I made it my NY resolution in 2009 to reach home by 8pm every weekday evening. So gone are the days where we would go shopping/ elsewhere after work as the priority is to get home by 8pm.

We would then start homework, learning spelling/ tingxie, enrichment classes homework, etc... between 8pm - 10pm. Subsequent to that, I will ask them to read a book before going to bed. So the kids will probably sleep by 10.30 - 11pm.

This year with my P3 in AM session, I am targetting 7.30 -9.30 revision time so she can go to bed by 10pm. But I observed that she is a Channel 8 9pm show addict so it actually does not make a diff whether we end at 9.30 or 10pm.

Frankly, I don't know if we've the \"right model\" to ensure the kids' success. It's also not as though that my kids are top performers. But I strongly believe that children strive on consistency. If we make it a habit to study every weekday evening, they will become used to it. This is true as sometimes if I don't get home by 8pm, they would call me and ask what are the things to do tonight. It shows that they are used to it. We usually lax during school hols and they will then need to adjust again when school re-opens.

Even though I'm a SAHM, my ds in p1 am session and he doesn't take pm naps. I still felt tt time is tight for my family too.

The main problem is there are things to be done but yet i can't push him too much or rush him thru.

            2.10pm Ds reach home
2.10-3pm To bathe and have lunch
            3.00-3.30 Free time
3.30-5.00 Do sch HW, spelling, tingxie, go thru today's work, do enrichment class hw
(by now i know he's tired for any more sch work)
5.00-6.30 Free play time for him at home or playgrd or Tv time while i prepare dinner (dad's back from work)
            6.30-7.30 Dinner + wash up
            7.30-8.30 Practice piano
8.30-9pm Getting ready for bed, reading, chit chat etc...
9.30 Must fall asleep to ensure enough of rest to wake up at 6.10am

This is the schedule that i tried to adhere for the past three weeks. I know my ds doesn't like to be nag to be faster (but who likes? ), he likes to do things at his own pace That's why he only need to adhere to two timings strictly 1. the bathe and have lunch by 3pm and bedtime at 9pm.

All the other timings like Sch hw and piano practice, I have to lead him subtly to do it.

To add on, as he has enrichment on two weekdays, the enrichment class will 'eat up' his free play time in the afternoon.

To compensate, wkends are r&r for him and myself too!

                Hi All,

Normally when the kid are in PM session, they would reach home around 7pm to 7.30 pm depend on the distance. Assuming take dinner, shower then start doing homework would be around 8.30pm. 😒 .....
                Hi titank,

YES, time is always running out for FTW parents. Whether the kids are in the morning or afternoon sessions.

I am one who leaves work ON THE DOT, so I can fetch my boy(s) and prepare dinner for the family. Right now, as DS1 is in the afternoon session, he reaches home between 6.45-7pm. Dinner after shower, and everything got to complete by 8pm. If there is time allowance before 8pm, he can have a short break for playtime or TV time. Our revision/homework/spelling time start at 8pm, try to end everything by 9-9.30pm. Got to be real fast & rush since i still have laundry (the boys' uniform) to do and my own shower time before our storytime and bedtime :!: Bedtime try to before 10.30pm. BUT there are ocassions when i will \"snake\" around, cut short the revision time.... πŸ˜‰ And on wednesday, schedule will be different due to DS1 taekwando lesson. So far, i have not enrolled DS1 to any enrichment or tution class since i am \"forcing\" myself to do it by myself 😒 In the morning, DS1 will start his day at 7.30-8am, i will send him to BASC. It dun really matter me if that is a good BASC, because all i need is my son is taken care/fed before he goes to school in the afternoon. And this BASC is affordable and near to his school.

Likewise if he is in the morning session, he will still have the same time with me. But i believe i will have to bring forward the bedtime.

Titank, juggle with it and we got to make it!! :celebrate:

                  Hi All,

Almost the 1st month going to over where almost now adjusted the P1 timetable. Yes now set alarm to go home from work on the dot. Reach home 6.30pm have my quick shower & dineer then awating kid to reach home.

Check the timetable, schoolwork or any memo from the school. See what is important to be complete for the day. For those colouring stuff would ask my DS to do on the next day when in the morning.

Now machiam like Robot style liao. Ha.ha if company going to retrench me I would be the one in the hit list.
                  Ha.ha.. :!:
