All About Right Brain Training
-
I used materials from various sources : Glenn Doman (POIs and BOIs), Tensai Store, TweedleWink (0-6yrs) and Wink (above 6yrs), download files compiled by parents in Brillkids forum and flash in ppt, collect pictures from Google and DIY flash cards etc.
I came across Rightbrainshop but found it not suitable for my kids, so I continued to DIY my flashcards. I bought flashcards in 7 languages from Taobao and books from Dangdang to make my home practise more interesting.

or you may go to Taobao and search under : 杜曼 or 七田真. Many flashcards and CDs available, much cheaper than Tensai store.

There are quite a number of threads discussing the different schools and training materials, linking memory in the http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewforum.php?f=7. Can check them out ...
There is also an episode on xiao chao ren that shows a little girl doing linking memory.

Hi Mishasha,
If I may suggest,
http://www.rightbraineducationshop.com gives away
a FREE E-BOOK That tells you about Shichida and other right brain education stuff. It covers all the topics of the right brain schools like -
1) Flash cards
2) Eye training
3) Mandala
4) Linking Memory
5) etc.
First thing is, According to Shichida, flash cards must be, or recommended to be \"real life\" pictures. NOT animated!
This is the basic of Shichida or Heguru right brain education.
When flashing cards it must be less than 1 second in order to activate the right brain.
Before signing up with them I have been making my own flash cards.
I even bought a expensive Canon Color printer and used a 300gm paper to print my own flash cards.
I have close to 1000 over DIY flash cards.
After trying rightbraineducationshop.com, it saves me the hassle to make and print my own.
If I work it out, it is very costly to print.
I only believe in Glenn Doman, Shichida Method and Heguru.
If you look at their website you can tell these are the real right brain school.
Just look at their history and background.
So I will go for GD, SM and Heguru Method.
I suggest you to go download the ebook.

Hi Jamie,
Thanks for sharing so much info on right brain training.
When I sent my elder gal to Shichida when she was 1yr old, I had been busy looking around for materials to prepare my home practice. I stumbled upon TweedleWink's founder Pamela Hickein's website (She operated a rightbrain school in US a no. of years back). I actually took an online training program by her and got hold of the Teacher's eguide which covered all aspect of right brain training including lessons planning (prenatal till 6yrs). It was the best guide I have ever had as many \"secrets\" and reasons behind how lessons are planned were explained in great details (even how to build a right brain training classroom)
Pamela Hickein co-developed Linking Memory (known as Memory Train under Tweedle Wink course) with Professor Shichida. When I met Professor Shichida in Singapore before he passed away a couple of years back, he spoke very highly of Pamela. For those who want to know more of right brain training, you may visit the following websites :

Hope more mummies can share their experience

Hi Jamiebrandon,
If you ask me.. I will stick to Shichida and Heguru.
I have send my eldest son and daughter to Shichida, Tweedle Wink and Heguru.
My son joined Tweedle Wink back in 2009 (January Intake).
Their 1st outlet was in Women Institute of Management Building (WIM) 7, Jalan Abang Haji Openg, Taman Tun Dr Ismail. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
We were the 1st group of parents that send our children there.
The teachers (3) were all from Shichida Method (Wisma Lim Foo Yong).
At that time I send my child there because it is near my house. and I knew some of the ex shichida teachers that joined.
I have also met Pamela many times. It was a very new set up, so a lot of topics were Shichida Method based only few of the items were hers.
Now with regards to Pamela Hickens, she is a translator for Professor Dr Makoto Shichida and a qualified Montessori teacher.
She did not co work with Shichida to come out with... linking memory.
Anyway the Tweedle Wink classes in WIM Taman Tun was closed after a year, because of some misunderstanding with her local partner.
She later open her next outlet in Bandar Putri Puchong with another partner.
Then I later send my kid to Heguru, which is in Mid Valley.
You can always clarify with Mrs Khoo, the principal of Shichida Method with regards to Tweedle Wink.
Tweedle Wink may work for some and some parents may like it.
But it is not the original right brain education school.
Hope that answers all your questions.
Anyway, Jamiebrandon, how are the Shichida classes these days?
:celebrate: -
Hi Nancy,
Thanks for your reply.
I also did some research, and you are right.
I have also found out that Pamela Heiken was actually a translator for Makoto Shichida and she was trained by him.
Anyway, classes in Shichida are Great!!
Brandon enjoy his classes very much.
Thanks!

Hi Jamie,
Glad your son is enjoying his Shichida classes.
Just to let you know I have also sign up with http://www.rightbraineducationshop.com.
Great website!!!
I am also tired of making my own flash cards.
My DIY flash cards are already turning yellow after 1 year plus.:(
Oh yes... do check out http://www.brainet.com.my,
the website looks el cheapo but they sell imported games and puzzles
related to right brain products from Europe.
The products can range from SGD100-SGD1000. Very ex but
very good.
I also bought some of their products.
Their products are also in most Popular Book stores in Malaysia and Singapore.
Their imported products are \"world class\" standard.

Dear Mummies,
I understand the pain to DIY your own cards. As i did for my son too.
I started my own biz selling flashcards to suit you and your child’s need.
I just started so I currently only have flashcards, and not puzzles yet.
I have Encyclopeadic cards, english, chinese, alphabets and math dot cards (dimension as mention by glenn doman)
And since it is a soft launch, there is 10% discount off the items.
This promotion ends till end of june. You can preorder as well before end of june to entitle for the 10% discount!
You are most welcome to email me or chat with me for more details.
P.S. visual stimulus cards are backordered. -
I read up books on glenn doman too. In fact i’m sending my son for shichida this coming july. Hmm soo i’ll know the difference soon.
I am planning/ thinking to bring in original books from Shichida (japan). It is only available in japan. Will mothers be interested in shichida books written by shichida? if so, i can bring in for you. of cos my price will be cheaper then if u buy it yourself!
Let me know if you are interested. -
I think International chess helps to boost our child’s logical thinking and mathematics. You may try to look at some of chess courses that are offered by Intchess Asia. I have recently enrolled my child, and he can beat me in chess!
-
Hi Mr Lee,
I do too agree international chess is one of the best games \"analytical\" for kids.
But chess, \"left brain\" skills because it involve \"logical\" and \"analytical\" skills.
I believe for babies and toddlers at a tender age, its more suitable to focus on \"right brain\" skills first.
According to Makoto Shichida, when a baby is born he or she use 100% of their right brain.
As they get older the left brain will develop gradually.
Anyway below are the difference of \"right brain\" and \"left brain\".
Left Brain
Conscious awareness
Logical thinking
Short term memory
Slow input
Detail analysis
Relies on physical senses
Likes repetitive input
Right Brain
Subconscious awareness
Abstract thought
Long term memory
Fast input
Gestalt (whole picture)
Relies on intuition
Soak up info like sponge
That is why I focus on right brain skills for my kids at an early age.
Only later, as they get older, I will focus on the left brain skills.
I don't expect my kids to be geniuses, but at least they will have a good education foundation.
Perhaps that will save me on future tuition fees. Heh heh!
PS. The difference between right and left brain article was taken from http://www.rightbraineducationshop.com FREE e-book. I hope they don't \"kill\" me for taking their notes.
