my own parents had 4 kids and they didn't seem too busy...still got time learn dancing and singing LOL
wow 4 u must be a busy mom/dad...
:celebrate:
It's about time management and whether you can take it. Nowadays people not as tough as in the old days haiz -
Probably to phase it correctly, we don't have kids because of the country but more for ourselves and many other reasons  At the same time, I don't think we will be label \"patriotic\" if we have 1.29 kids or more kids
But I think I was just curious on the reasons why people are not having more kids. Is it because of the standard of living, education system, fear of childbirth/ kids, people who thinks their quality of life will suffer with more kids, etc....? Yes... we've also seen couples who prefer dogs to kids.
For us, I think we've reached the max. Being a FTWM, my resources are stretched and I cannot imagine having more. Not forgetting medical condition that stop me from having more. Also, I think it's really stressed. Feeding them is probably the \"easiest\" part but making sure that they grow up to be a fine person and do well in life is a bigger challenge.
So even if the govt were to offer more \"bonuses\", I don't think we will ever go for it. We didn't have the 3rd child because of baby bonus. It just happen....

IMO, Singapore is already very crowded. Housing getting smaller and roads getting more jammed, likewise the MRTs.
having more babies or migrants to solve the support of ageing population is not a wise plan. we should explore other means. -

Yes.... more and more micky mouse houses. Soon we will look like disneyland. -

Ya lor, everywhere you go, its full of peoples and cars. With ERP, COE, the number of cars still increasing. With baby bonus, the population don't increase much. :?IMO, Singapore is already very crowded. Housing getting smaller and roads getting more jammed, likewise the MRTs.

This is the so called - Society Studies. Happen to see on the newspaper a few days ago, MOE going to introduce one more subject for the higher Sec, Society/Social Studies. I told dd and she was screaming high and low, already taking so many subjects now, what does MOE want ?????? :x -

Sometimes, just feeding them and clothing them and giving them a loving environment is enough to ensure they grow up fine. I've seen more than enough children who didn't grow up fine precisely because the parents are doing too much, not doing too little.Feeding them is probably the \"easiest\" part but making sure that they grow up to be a fine person and do well in life is a bigger challenge.
In the old days, so many people grew up fine without parental interference. Just by being there for your child is more than enough, which sadly, many don't do, entrusting that duty to teachers, tutors and childcare centres. -

To support an aging population, everyone needs to have 2 kids. Just replacing themselves as a duty to society. If you don't replace yourself, someone else has to pay more taxes to support you. It is a duty, not necessarily born out of patriotism, but out of consideration to others.IMO, Singapore is already very crowded. Yes, Singapore is too crowded.....crowded with too many \"guests\" who come and sleep on our beds, eat on our tables...yes, they contribute by helping us sweep our floor, but eventually, they will leave with a full belly and a good night's sleep. I want to see a home filled with our own kids, grandchildren and their progeny, not a house full of guests. -

agreed. Often I wonder why these parents want to have kids if they do not want to grow with them.
perhaps the child is not planned for in the first place? :stupid: -
