hi all, not sure if this topics falls in here.


i need to know, how much angbao $ to give for wedding dinner at hotel @ orchard. is a relative wedding. & my family of 4. but basically my kids still very young(1Y & 3Y) so husband stingy, say give $60 angbao.
i told him not nice la, later my mum say make her lose face :torchme:

so how much angbao $ to give for my whole family?

For a family of four, though yours kids are small, u still take up at least 3 seats plus 1 baby chair, if per head is $60 to $80 ( depends on the price of hotel ), at least $200 is presentable, not to mention that it is a RELATIVE, that means u will meet someday. I would say $60 is toooo stingy ( sorry…). For me I will give $250-$300. Remember next time your children also will grow big and get married, imagine pp come and give you $60 for a family of 4… it is REALLY not nice.

Note as a gauge of Grand Hyatt's (hotel located in Orchard Road) wedding packages, http://singapore.grand.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels-singapore-grand/events/weddings/offers.jsp, it starts at an average of S$97/person (weekday) or S$113/person (weekend). As a norm, a guest would usually try to cover his/her dinner cost. If kids are not going to occupy two additional seats, then \"minimum\" angbao would be S$200/couple - S$230/couple if one wants to at least cover couple's dinner costs, excluding consideration that the wedding couple is a relative.

$60 for per person considered low liao, don't mind me saying but your DH really... :faint:
Can take the risk and show up, hopefully your relatives wouldn't notice..

ya my DH is very stingy. is not per person $60, he said whole family $60. siao right! i so angry, quarrel with him. anywae, its really not nice to give so little since we are relatives & will meet during festive seasons etc.

If it's S$1,600/table, then for a table of 10 it would be S$160/person, if S$1,600/table is without GST & tax, then it would be S$187/person (with GST & tax). S$200 angbao would just cover one person's cost at the table.

I would say between S$380 - S$500 is a \"decent\" amount, considering it's a relative + family of four attending.
