Travel: Singapore - Universal Studio

Just went yesterday, thank goodness, nice weather all day long, although can be a bit hot in the afternoon. Singapore, being a tiny dot, what else can we ask for? This USS is good enough and had a wonderful time there. Water coolers can be found everywhere, so no need to worry about spending on drinks.
Due to technical fault, we missed the Jurassic Rapid Adventure ride. We were already sitting on the boat and was asked to leave as they are closing down this attraction. We paid $4 for the locker and demanded a refund. The staffs were very patience and get the locker's personnel to refund us the money. We were very disappointed to miss the ride. After talking to one of the staffs, I suggested her to call me on my mobile once the ride was up. And she really called me two hours later. She asked us to approach straight to the boat, no need to queue up. However, we still queue when we reached there, because the queue was very short. Jurassic Rapid Adventure is a must ride, but can be a little scary on the last part.
Something spoil our mood during the ride. Together with us were 4 PRC young visitors. Two ladies, nicely dressed, opened up an umbrella to cover their lap, worried of getting wet. Somewhere 1/3 of the ride, the ulsher made announcement to ask the ladies to close the umbrella, in English. They ignore. After a while, the ulsher made another announcement in Mandarin and these two ladies simply ignored. When we were in the tunnel, there was another announcement and they still ignored. Hubby and I started to open our mouth to get them close the umbrella, telling them, their umbrella sure going to fly away later and how it might injured us. Then they guai guai kept the umbrella. So super angry on their inconsiderate action :x The ride was meant to get wet and if they are worried of getting wet, wear a raincoat or don't ride lah. -

I'm sure our country does not welcome these annoying, rude, inconsiderate, selfish, self-centred, suaku, nincompoop tourists!!
:x -
Aiya, don't be so :x . It's just that their civilization level hasn't caught up with their wallets yet .

but minnie, its not just the behaviour is intolerable, it isnt safe to those seated behind them. How can they be thinking of themselves only??
this is the same reason why we refused to visit hk disneyland when kids were younger…fearing the queue cutting, squatting/spitting all over and boorish behaviour… -
I know, we shouldn't hesitate to point it out to them when safety of other people is threatened.
As for HK disneyland, in fact it's not that bad. If you go on a weekday, you actually don't have to queue too long. The mainland Chinese queue up just like the rest. I didn't notice any unsightly behavior, but maybe I was too occupied with my 2 little ones -

I won't be bother much for their whatever behaviour but this one is safety concern, so I am super pissed off. And I am wondering, they can really wear very nice and carry branded handbag to theme park. Hmmm ... :roll:but minnie, its not just the behaviour is intolerable, it isnt safe to those seated behind them. How can they be thinking of themselves only??

Another 2 ladies I saw, same country, the same ride, were discussing where to put their branded handbags so they would not get wet and dirty. :!: -
Hey all!
Just wanted to check with you guys, did anyone who visited Universal Studios recently encounter bag checks at the entrance and had your food/ drinks removed?
Thinking of bringing 2yo and will definitely need snacks/ food for her.
TIA! -
I have been with my almost 3 year old 3 times (the first doesn’t count because none of the rides were working), though enjoyable we have only stayed there in the afternoons (2pm –closing), as Madagascar is still not open (only the carrousel is working). The Far Far Away rides frightened the otherwise seasoned theme park visitor DS (we have annual pass to Hong Kong Disneyland and have been to Tokyo too…) Although its lovely to walk around and when we visited we got an F&B voucher for $10 or $15.00 (don’t quiet remember as we did not use it), we did not have our bags inspected merely glanced at, nor did we have any food items confiscated. Moreover the restaurants were obliging in providing hot water to mix the milk because in the middle of the heat wave my son decided that he must have milk nothing else.
There is little to do in my opinion for the under 5s, hence I guess they charge for 4+ years old. We have had long queues up to 45 minutes for the Jurassic Park ride and 35 minutes for the cars (mummy’s)… So be prepared to have lots of water, patience and entertainment whilst you queue up. And most of all have fun. -
I will! Thanks loads for the information! Going to bring loads of snacks for her, I doubt she’ll calm down at anytime to want to eat a proper meal
Ah! If you have the annual pass to HK Disneyland you’ll know what I mean about the bag checks! -
Whatever food & drinks you intend to bring into USS, keep them in your bag and take them out only after you have passed through the turnstiles. They will not stop you to check your bags once you are in hollywood main street. Don’t hold it in your hands when entering at turnstiles or you will be asked to throw it away, baby food or not. For adults, if you don’t mind drinking from water cooler, you can bring an empty bottle to fill from the water coolers available at most places. There’s one outside the toilet right after the entry turnstiles.

Actually, I feel that they should open the park at night.
It’s really really hot in the day! -

I took most of the rides with dd, except the mummy ride. Because its so dark inside and look scary. Is it really that scary??? -
ya while queueing, we saw a few wore raincoat and I also saw some really get very wet. My dh actually happen to have one disposable raincoat in his bag but I also insist not to wear as I want to be sporting mah…end up me, my dd and my niece got the most water…We were like drop into pond…all wet including under wear…and end up we bought t-shirt from the Jurassic park soverneir shops…

Most exciting ride among all…and it goes reverse direction too…my sis said she screamed till voiceless and giddy…but my 8 yr old dd and 13 yr old niece said though scary but they want to ride again :!:
