The Vagabond Club is emboldened to conflate calculated brashness with a deep whiff of grandiosity. Outlandish set pieces such as Franck Le Ray's golden baboon holding the fort alongside house spirits at Bar Vagabond, six giant bronze Banyan trees dusting ceilings with gold crusted leaves leaves and one rhinoceros sculpture which doubles as reception desk happen against sultry red weaving in and around - pulpy Parisian luxury reigns courtesy of esteemed French interior designer Jacques Garcia's vision. And then there is owner Satinder Garcha's intimately cultivated whisky library, the not so small cherry on top pulsating to the tune of over a thousand curated bottles for sale.

The Whiskey Library @ The Vagabond Club

What exquisite pursuits do the ultra wealthy truly fancy? According to Bruce Wayne's personal butler, it would be \"driving million dollar souped-up sports cars, dating movie stars, buying things that aren't for sale.\" As far as luxury real estate developer and boutique hotelier Satinder Garcha is concerned, amassing a treasure trove of rare vintage whiskies from around the world sure puts a smile on his face. Hence bear witness to The Whiskey Library at The Vagabond Club ( a hotel operating out of a series of restored historic shophouses which he owns by the way), where endless sleekly customized glass cabinets stocked with over a thousand carefully curated bottles of prized spirits stand tall in one astoundingly fashioned lobby lounge of sultry red, pink and brass.

Indeed The Whiskey Library is Garcha's proud labor of love; admittedly he scoured the globe for a good two years, visiting countless distilleries and procuring top finds in far-flung places. Ardbeg Kildalton 2014, Old Pulteney 1983, Aberlour Single Malt Scotch and 32 year old Bunnahabhain from Scotland, '2018 Kirin Fuji-Gotemba 'Kunpu' Blended Whisky' , 'Kurayoshi 12 Year' Matsui Whisky and Mars IWAI Tradition Wine Cask Finish from Japan, Blood Oath Pact Bourbon from the US, Brighton Gin from the UK and Star of Bombay from Sri Lanka.......suffice to say the inventory cultivated is sheer staggering.

Hotel Clover The Arts Review: Nothing more than an overglorified budget hotel

In our opinion this wouldn't even qualify as a boutique hotel, instead it is at best just another budget iteration excessively dolled up with works of art (paintings done on walls, lift landings and guest room doors) in a bid to stand out from other properties in the Clarke Quay district.

Customer service was dismal and almost non-existent. Just a sullen young man at a counter who briefly administered the checking in process before vanishing into the tiny back office. A single lift services all 5 floors of the hotel, with tight corridors to navigate and an access key card that wouldn't work properly at times.

The room we were assigned was The Arts King, god knows why it is named as such. Just a bland mural of birds splashed across the wall above the headboards and a small pretentious table-chair set squeezed into the available space right in front of the physical bed area. One will also encounter a pathetic excuse of a LED TV delivering poor quality images and limited channels of programming. Free Wi-fi was provided, however reception was terribly spotty and in the end we turned it off altogether out of immense frustration.

(Newly Opened Hotel) Capri By Fraser, China Square

                    https://i.ibb.co/xf888rC/IMG20190519113039-01.jpg\">

Officially unveiled in early May 2019, Capri By Fraser, China Square informs its design aesthetic through harvesting historical and cultural abundances of the Chinatown neighbourhood happening right across. Dramatic set pieces and vastly colorful murals arrayed onsite conjure indelible reminisces about yesteryear's fixtures including Samsui women and Malay fishermen, these equivalently contrasted against an eclectic mix of modern luxuries alongside technological extravagance endeavouring to soothe and pamper.

The 16-storey hotel offers 304 well-appointed guest rooms across 5 categories (superior, deluxe, executive, studio deluxe and studio executive); each comes equipped with a kitchenette, king bed/twin beds, private work desk, IPTV, shower facility and Malin+Goetz toiletries. Lest we forget mentioning, one $3800 vibrantly shaded Italian highback lounger complementing bedside tables crafted in the likeness of vintage tiffin carriers await as well.

Couture-esque overtones strenuously underpin boutique hotel Kēsa House's feistiness: a trinity of swanky green, tanned oak and flannel grey administered to great effect in some 60 guest rooms on 3 floors and its collection of cultivated communal spaces (lounge, shared kitchen and open terrace), while fixtures and decor reflect restrained quirk within prioritized parameters of practicality.
