All About Full-Time Maids

When I brought my maid for transfer, agent mentioned they charge 10 dollars a day, but I told them if they wanted to charge me 10 then I will take my maid back and they can jolly well fetch her to the agency if they have a potential employer. It is not stated in my contract that I have to pay for her accomodation etc.. Told them,,, give them maid to transfer and make 100 p.cent while Im maidless and still want to charge. Ive used 3 different agents thru the past few years and none charge for accomodation tho the last agent mentioned it cos they wanted me to sign transfer form fast. I have read some of the post in this forum of employers paying for levy and maids accomodation. I know some agents do state a fee but thats negotiable, they will again charge another 2-3 mths on the maid after transfer. Hah! already making transfer fee plus service chage again frm new customers. Please dnt pay if maid is on transfer. You are already doing a big favour leaving the maid under yr name and paying the levy while they make big bucks.
If I am not wrong the agent will tell you advance alto is not written.shine_fs:
wow is it shine_fs... maybe will ask my agent to give some discounts the 15 is quite high

Ya, cos my mum's maid was sent back to agency b4 transfer out. They said S$10 per day, that's 2 weeks ago.

whether you want to leave your maid to agent or your home is your decision. it depends on scenarios.
if my maid makes serious mistake and i fire her, from the moment i inform her, i prefer she staying at agent place, even i pay for her F&C.
if my maid is good and only leaving us because of end of contract, i prefer she staying at home and continue to work until she finds new employer.moonee:

I recently apply a new maid on behalf for my sis cos she didn’t take the test. We did ask the agent is it ok to do so, she says ok.
This am, the maid after working for abt 10 days now, tells my mother whom stays with my sis that she doesn’t want to work, wants to go back agent.
My sis asks her why dun want work, she says how cm her contract address is different frm where she is, and the age of the kids are different.
We have explained to her in Singapore, we need take test in order to be able to employ, so for this case, cos my sis doesn’t hv the so called licence, tat’s why use mine.
Anyone can advise whether we shd keep the maid or return to agent since she says she wants to go bk to agent? if we return to the agent, we have to incur costs on insurance for getting another maid as well as hv to pay for the lodging cost until the current maid been transfer out, isnt it very unfair for employer to incur such costs when it is the maid that doesnt want to work and not we dun want her… -
you cant apply a maid on behalf of other people.
the maid is under your name and MUST stay and work at your residential address.
please find a solution asap before it's too late. i think it might be already a bit late. if the maid complains to agent then later to MOM, you are in serious trouble. you cant blame the maid. she is correct.
i think for now, the maid can only work for you in your address. please move her back to your house asap.
if you send the maid back to agent, you need to pay lodging. you may get back part of insurance. and i think you gotta pay for her transfer fee because it's your mistake. the transfer fee is normally $600. and even so, you will be very lucky if things can be settled in this way.TAURUS:

ic thks. so if nw i tell her i’m her employer but i’m working, so everyday i will send her to my sis’s place where my mum is looking after for my kids, then i’m not breaking any law rite?
Isn’t it the same as what others are doing, whereby they will send their kids to their parents’ place in daytime, night time bring them bk to our hm… -
the problem is how the maid thinks. yes it’s a common practice but it’s a grey area normally mutually agreed between you and your maid. the important thing is the kid she is taking care is your kid, she does not do things not related to your kid (such as cleaning your sister house), and you do bring her back to your home during night time.
but if the maid already knows you apply on behalf of your sister and she is basically working for your sister, she can put you under very difficult situation.

Taurus,
Last time this pattern was norm for maids, not anymore..
Especially if they have to work in both houses..
My friend's maid will follow the kiddos to ILs place and look after the kid only, no housework at all..
Unless you can strike a deal with your maid.. .. most of them know the rules well nowadays.

Employers should never believe in maid agencies. They are very good at telling lies just to get your business.

Always check with MOM if you are not sure of anything. If anything happens, the employer is fully responsible. Maid agencies do not take any responsibility.
