I'm trying to get some feedback on Halifax Montessori.
Would greatly appreciate if mummies who have kids there now can share some information on the school, teachers, environment etc with me.
Many many thanks!

What about MMI Woodlands? Any feedback about the centre??
Which one are you referring to?
The childcare or the enrichment centre? -

You're not over-reacting at all. You are responding just like any parent would. I would too! All parents want their children to be happy and frankly for these centres, it's good to remind them that children are the real customers. The parents just support their learning needs and hope that their emotional needs aren't shortchanged in the process... be it a big name centre or just the one across the street. Your sharing is greatly appreciated. Any centres, not just Montessori ones, cannot be complacent in maintaining standards and quality especially more so in reputable ones. I'mHi Buds
Thanks, kind of you. I told the center principle of the other parent's feedback and she didn't say a word about it. She was listening, so I'm convinced the incident is true. Also, I was told recently, the children were practising so hard for the concert from 8.30 - 1 without food and water. When asked, teacher mentioned, they overlooked. To me, this is unacceptable. Again, I don't want to be caught in this situation later on. There are more feedback which I don't want to pen all down. There must be alot of other good feedback on the school. Strong academic and conducive environment but that again is not enough. The least you want the mgt to walk their vision and mission. Somehow, even though I am not directly impacted, I just don’t feel comfortable with the center anymore. So coincidental, today my son didn’t want to go to school. He tells me he doesn’t like to go to school and want to stay home. Not sure if I am over reacting but just concerned that I don’t want to push him too hard on the learning aspect rather want him to enjoy learning as learning itself is a long journey.. If I can’t find a good monte around my place. I rather put him back in his previous CC where he was happy only that I found he was picking up Singlish and environment was too relaxed and I wasn’t sure if he was learning. Maybe I decided too fast or Maybe a relaxed environment is better for him.. still thinking and feeling worried. Going to see his Josiah teacher today to get her feedback on how my son is doing. Let’s see how it goes..
If anyone keen on the CC which my son attended, it was Star Learners @ Simei. He was there from 18 months to 3 years. He had very good, caring PG teachers.
to hear that your child mentioned not wanting to go to school... it has to be something. I went thru that phase as well. It still haunts me till today that i didn't \"listen\" to my DD1 enuff then and gave too much trust on the teacher who failed her academically AND emotionally. I hear she no longer is an educator at the same centre but hey the damage has been done and my DD1 and tho' we've moved on so far now from that time.. i have to live with the memory of that experience for the rest of my life.
As for that nasty being who dared call herself a teacher, YOU are a disgrace to the teaching industry. What more a Montessori one at that! There i got that out. That felt liberating. :preen:
So, parents.. keep your eyes peeled. Observe your children and their body language. Listen.. to what they are trying to tell you or what they are \"really\" telling you behind their lil actions (if they're too young to speak yet).. and take action if need be. Don't wait till it's too late. It was a painful experience for me as a parent AND a fellow educator. I should've known better..

My boy is with Sunny Bunny Montessori. The Expat teacher has only been with Sunny Bunny Montessori for about 1 month but can tell that she is very passionate and experienced. My boy loves her and we can see that he is happier and more confident now. A pity that my boy is going to change school soon due to plans that were made long, long ago, but we hope that he will enjoy his new school too. Do visit the centre and see if it is suitable for your kid.Jenny Lam:
I visited a new Montessori school at level 2 Bedok CC more than 1 wk ago. They have other centres elsewhere. All by same operator and not franchised. Not sure if the fee is cheaper than Josiah. They have a expat Montessori teacher. Nice environment. You may want to look at their website first? I havent decide whether sending my child there cos I got to work, I need to put my child in full day school.
Hi Jenny Lam
Thanks for your suggestions. I may drop by to have a look. I also browsed another thread on this center and the feedback hasn't been positive so it's confusing. Nevertheless, I will visit to make a judgement for mysefl. Thanks again. -

Hi ocearth, welcome to Montessori. :peekaboo:
You are most welcome.
Most of the information are dated quite a while back when i only had my two girls. I now have two more! So, forgive me for being less involved here. But good news is, i have something up my sleeve. Especially for practicing Montessorian moms and dads. Will keep you guys posted.
By the way, how old are your children? Mine are 11, 9, 23 mths and 7 mths. I don't have much choice to teach them separately especially during this school holidays but most school days i have the boys to myself i can work with them. Then evenings or late afternoons are for the elder sisters.
My 23mth old whom i affectionately call buds_chubs or tiger chubs in this forum can work on his table and also on the mat. I started him out on the mat before the table. Get a nice plain mat for him to work on and teach him how to roll and unroll a mat each time he wants to work on something. Working on a mat helps to instill discipline. Only that material can be worked on a that time and it has to be kept before taking another or else it won't fit the mat.
He can work cross legged on his mat already and his attention span has improved so much. I think i started to work with him around the time when he was about 14mths old as i have acquired quite a bit of Montessori materials from my work days plus the additions from those that i hand made during my first few years as a stay-home-mom (SAHM)... so i arranged the materials accordingly on the shelves. Because Montessori education is child-centric, children become very independent so as long as the materials are easily accesible, they are free to work on any material arranged on the shelves. It's important to slowly build up the resources/materials as the child grows to prepare the environment for him.
Here's him working on the Pink Object Box 1. He was abt 16mths old here.
Aaaawww.. i think there's problem uploading pictures today.
The picture didn't come up. -
As many here already know, i am very slow with PM replies. :imsorry:
Will work on them yah? :imsorry:
