I think like you said, she's stressed over her CA papers. I think it will be all clear by the end of her CA.my daughter, who is in P1 seems to have mood swings this week .
She was late for school today, because she refused to wear her school uniform. sigh, she wore her uniform then she took it off and told me that she doesn't want to go school.
I asked her why, she can't give me a reason.
After talking to her for like 5 mins, on why she has to go to school, she finally wore her school uniform.
But she was late , for around 10 mins.
Her mood swings happen suddenly and goes away very quickly too.
She was ok when on the way to school, and wave goodbye to me happily at the main gate.
But i was like, what happen actually?
She is having her CA this week, and today is her chinese paper.
I was thinking isit because she feels stressed?
But she seems always the cool cool type during previous tests.
I confided in one of my colleague about this morning, she told me to take it easy, saying normal kids also have mood swings, and even adults have them too. Its's just a one off thing, don't take it too hard.
but i can't help but feeling worried. she doesn't usually say she doesn't want to go school, but only for this morning.

hope you are feeling better by now.
Professionals tell me that as the child grows and becomes more aware, the same issues that didnt use to cause a reaction may now become triggers to certain behaviour.
As my dd3 grew, she showed more tantrums than previously. I used to panick and thought that she was regressing - but I have come to learn that its just part of her growing up and her reactions to her environment. I am also beginning to get used to her style - one trait goes off and another one will appear.
Its a dull ache when the child shows negative traits that were previously not there, but no choice have to manage accordingly. The positive part is that at least she could be convinced by you to wear her uniform back, and that you are able to find a possible cause for her behavior. That is already two things down for you to nail things down and find possible solutions.
Hope this helps. -

Mummies, I've noticed my son looks at the corner of his eyes recently. Visual stimming? He does it only at meal times when he's not allowed to do anything but eat. He hates to eat and Is always bored at the dining table. Not sure if this considered stimming. He just looks at the corner of his eyes randomly; not looking at things, lines, toys, table etc. Do you punish or let it be? My hub & I just whacked him for that. I even smack at the side of his head whenever he does it.
it gets to my nerves!!!!!! -

He's just bored lah. Don't react too much into it. I think when I was that age, I did that too to show that I'm bored. Is he allowed to talk during meal times? Maybe can use that to try a conversation.
My son also hates to eat. He lies down on the chair. Yes, lie down. He hides under the table. And he eats with his hands instead of utensils. Sigh. But he's been eating more already after we explained to him the benefits of certain food. Ok, it probably won't work for your kids coz mine is scientific kid. So we had to go into the nutrients like how iron made blood etc. He used to be a vegan. Now he eats some fish, beef and a little of other meats. He will eat pork only if I tell him it's beef (coz beef gives a lot more iron to make blood). -

The other time he does it is when he's thinking of an answer to my questions. Sigh. It's true, everything he does now I'll straight away link it to autism

I tried reading lots of books on why he must eat. He knows and even recently asked me if the meal i prepared for him is healthy and tells me he likes healthy food. He seems to be scared of eating unhealthy food many thanks to the health talks in school. :rotflmao:
So do you punish your son for lying down on the chair or under the table during meal time? Curious, how do you manage him when eating out then? -
so sad⦠national rally never touch on special needs issue???produce produce???

I give up punishing him for doing that. Just have to keep telling him to get up and sit properly.
do u have any ideas what to do? He doesn't seem to have a back bone. Sigh.
-
mashy, wat does your OT say about your son?
my son iso weak on my upper truck, so hard for them to sit very long time⦠-
When a child appears to have \"no backbone\" or likes to \"flop over\" cd be a case of poor muscle tone or lacks good core muscles.
Best thing to do is to build the core muscles. This can be done through swimming, yoga, taekwondo/akido or gym exercises. Idea is to build upper body strength. It will help the child in desk activities - especially when they are in school. Lots of sitting and writing at the desk. Because the kids are tired, they tend to \"flop over\".
A cheaper and less time consuming way is to go online or on youtube (for video demo) and search for Yoga poses pertaining to:
- cat
- cow
- cobra
- mountain
- boat
U can make it fun. Younger kids love and learn about animals, so u can get them to pretend play that they will be strong and flexible like those animals mentioned in the yoga poses. In the mountain pose, u can tell the child to stand tall and strong like the might mountain. In boat pose, can tell the kid to be like superman.
All these poses help to strengthen the back.
Good for adults too. So, can do it together. Makes a nice bonding session.
