Son today started rainbow … Another stress some how is coming…

I know rainbow is expert centre , but my son teacher is a green apple …

I don’t feel good overall , what shd I do? Whenever I discuss my concern the senior teacher will say give time …

I don’t I dun hav the confident w them…

Any mummies child w rainbow pls I need ur advise …

If not rainbow where shd I go?

My colleague who duno my son conditional talk to me like this " I don’t know why pp need to send her son to so far soon , if a kid is good or smart no matter which school they go will be smart n dun hav to go far school just for good school""

Hiaz , they duno what I’m going through, if I hav choice I also want to send my son to nearby school Which fee is cheap! Hiaz

There u go again, not trusting others. Stop it. U need to trust others. If you are forever doubting others, u won't get anywhere.

The teacher is right, u need to give time. Changes don't happen overnight. I also only started seeing small changes after a year or so with therapy.

I'm very impressed with my boy's OT. She wrote a memo for his teachers and mailed it to me! And it's on her own accord, I didn't even ask for it.

Is it the KKH-Rehab OT? I have requested for OT for my son from KKH-Rehab as well. Knowing that his EIPIC will end by end of this year, now I am pathing him into getting KKH-rehab Therapy so he will have continual support after he goes P1 next year.

Can I also ask you how your prep your boy in primary school? My boy still have very weak skills in writing. Now I making him write A-Z every night (whenever possible). Do you give your boy spelling etc?
Not too sure if I am being too hard on him, but thats what normal kids do as well right?

He is going to face a very tough journey if he goes mainstream and I believe that journey is not going to be nice. If I dun enforce all these to him now, I worry when comes P1, he will have a total shutdown.

I think green teacher is also good. She will learn what she applied onto your child. Give them a chance. its only his first week. Give it time and you will see improvement.

As for what your colleagues / friends say, you can either tell them your boy condition or just bear with their remarks. That’s something you need to overcome by yourself.

That time we just practiced some writing and did theraputty at home. My son really hates writing so also cannot do too much of it. But he seems ok when he wanna write his own stuff. So I just let him do some colouring/drawing plus some labeling. Spelling was tougher in kindy than primary school! Every week, we struggled with spelling in kindy. But in primary school, he somehow 'Kai qiao' and took to spelling like a fish to water. We hardly learned any spelling except for 1 or 2 difficult words. He breezed through spelling. I guess it's because he finally understood phonics and how to apply them when spelling. He could now sound it out himself and spell words he may not know very well.

I'm actually quite laid back when it comes to school work. Hahaha. My only requirement now is for him to complete his assignments given by school or enrichment classes. If he can focus and complete them, I'm already thankful. Not asking for too much or doing more. I'm supposed to practise writing with him everyday, but I've been lazy.

If u wanna give spelling, u can give a list from the dolch words. It’s common words that are used. I think they are more useful than the ones given by the kindy.

Nice, your boy now is in P2 I suppose? I guess your prep work done in K2 helps him. Not only you, I am now starting to plan to do daily practice with him so he can adjust easily when he goes to P1. I am also waiting for the day he will "kai qiao".

We also hope he will be able to finish this school work on his own. Now must make it a practise to let him get used to "do homework and write" every night. Next time P1, he has to write everyday leh.
