Yes I heard abt nbps too but didn't know it's so gd. Ok I will keep a lookout on the open house. Thks. Do u know where to find list of pri sch with ASD support?
MOE no longer maintains a list of primary schools with special needs support as its current position is that all primary schools have AEDS.

What I have learnt on the ground is that different AEDs have their specialities, eg. dyslexia, ASD. Hence the AEDs' focus in each school may be different as they have resource contraints as well. Different schools may also have different AED numbers depending on needs.

So one suggestion is to talk to the AED and find out their background and focus when looking for a pri school.

U can also check out their websites to see how many they have. My boy's sch started with just 3 at the beginning of last year then it ballooned to quite a big group by the end of last year.

Ok all pri sch are supposed to have at least one AED LBS. But I guess really need to go down to see and talk to the AED to see how much they can offer. I'm quite keen with Nbps but again it's distance issue.

very good sharing, mashy. Thank you so much.

i'm just thinking ... this same chart can be used to help them in other areas as well, eg: develop good character values. example: before each day begin, remind them to do good. eg: diligent, hardworking (ie. finish the worksheet or handout teacher asked them to do in class, etc ), show kindness to classmates, compassion to animals / people around them, be Thankful, be grateful for food available for them to eat, be considerate, be obedient (obey your parents, obey your teachers in school).

so for each day - list down what activities they'd encountered or demonstrated. Then give them reward sticker according to each character value they'd displayed.

Yes, that's great suggestion, except that he could hardly tell me when he did these in school. Kekeke. I know his school has a reward system for the class as a whole when they demonstrate good character traits. They get beads and it's displayed in their school canteen.

I just keep things simple coz he gets confused when I add too many things for him. šŸ™‚ My instruction for him is always listen to teacher, do his work, don't hit his friends. And I told him how I loved hearing praises of him from his teacher. Kekeke.

Yes mashy. Short and clear instructions. I think u r great!

would be great if MOE can provide to parets a list of primary schools that are friendly to ASK kids, where there are at least a few trained primary school teacher(s) who are equipped to handle them.

MOE should also build MORE schools like Pathlight, and help to subsidize parents in the expensive school fees.

My friend said each year got quite a lot of new cases of ASD (around 200) reported at KK hospital. Hence, there is growing awareness of ASD amongst parents now, compared to 30 years ago. And the earlier kids go for Early Intervention, the better for them !
