      SAHM Chew:
Can I check with the exemption for Chinese?

Since it is exempted in PSLE, how about sec school? Are the kids required to take another second language in sec school?
No. The exemption continues in sec school.

Thanks everyone for the advice but I have spoken to her parents and they apologise many times and thank me for my understanding. But it still didn't solve the prob. Although hitting my gal was not intentional and stem from the fact that she lacks control, I can't fault her either. Her parents has talked to her but I think it didn't help because it happen again and again.

I have no prob with my child mixing with her it's the hitting part that I am not comfortable with. I mean who would like their child to be hit in school all the time? Whether intentional or not.

I m getting my gal to try hang out with other friends beside her. I think that is the only way for now.
My experience with my daughter is that just telling her that it's wrong and not to do it isn't enough. The lack of self-control will mean that she won't remember the instruction when under stress. There needs to be someone to stop the behaviour then and there and make her act out the correct behaviour, and it may take many repetitions, more than any NT person feels is necessary, to see change in the behaviour. So the parents will need to teach her when it happens at home, and maybe your daughter and her friends and teachers will have to do this in school for the lesson to stick. It's hard that she is in different environments with different people, but I feel that's the best way. Perhaps her parents can write out a social story or some instructions about this which she can carry with her in school, and your daughter and others in school can remind her to look at it when the issue arises.

in consideration of that your grandchildren might be ASD .
No I will not stop my daughter getting married, and I hope she can find someone who will accept her as she is. And whether they have kids is their decision, not mine.

                all mummies,
I am considering to put him in eipic in the afternoon 3 times a week in addition to daily CC in the morning.
do you have any recommendation for mild asd child?
                thank you.

af, as far as I know, there is no magic formula for a breakdown between EIPIC and mainstream CC for ASD, mild or otherwise.

Some parents pay more weightage to EIPIC and support with mainstream, like myself, while some parents do the vice versa. In either case, the recommendation that I have heard from professionals is that mainstream exposure would be good for the ASD child as it provides for social interaction with NT kids. EIPIC on the other hand provides a more structured environment with trained teachers to facilitate the specific learning requirements of special needs children.

Your first formula between EIPIC and mainstream probably sounds right. Its good to keep a look out and make adjustments along the way depending on how your child fits into the environment.

                Good luck! :xedfingers:

                Hi ImMeeMee,
Thank you for your kind advice. has been hectic to search for info for my son on how to help him better and read up stuff on the website.
there is vast information everywhere and as I am not a fast reader, it takes some time to read. for the first time in my life, i feel that i should have improved my reading speed and skill. 🙂
Recently we visisted one of priviate EIPIC to find out more but the person who brief through said that it might be too taxing for my son to attend half day morning CC x 5 a week and EIPIC 3 x a week as he is still young kid (he is 2.5yr old now) and as he might be tired, whatever he learnt might not be absorbed fully by him..
so i am actually in dilemma to decide.....

It might really be a bit overwhelm for him to attend like this.
My son is in CC 5x per week and 3x EIPIC as well. However my son function better when the EIPIC is in morning. Cos in CC, they usually nap in the afternoon. He has fallen asleep in EIPIC a few times when he first started. Then I change to EIPIC to morning sessions instead.

If you don't put him into CC during EIPIC days, will there be anyone to look after him?
