      Hi,

I'm new in this forum group. Wanna ask if any of your kids taking Vitamin B12? Recently my 4 yrs old non verbal ASD boy keeps getting tounge ulcers and heard that it might be Vitamin B12 deficiency. The lack of B12 also causes speech delays. Anyone has any knowledge or experience to share?
      Hi Summerp83,
Maybe you can consult a GP whether to do a blood test to confirm B12 deficiency?
Is your child using a SLS free toothpaste? My child rarely has ulcers since he switched to Biotene SLS free toothpaste, available in Unity.

        Hi,

Long time no see. Overall DS progressed quite well during this year especially social part. Yesterday went for P1 orientation, excited and stressful. There are so different between primary school and childcare. I already applied for parent support group and will try my best to help him adapt to new life.

Hi Tyeogh, Double-E and all mummies and daddies here!

              How are you?

I just went back to read up Tyeogh's posting in July and saw that his boy was offered a Foundation level year in Pathlight.

My opinion? I would recommend he takes up Pathlight's offer at Foundation level for 2016 and then he will have another year to consider what he would want to do for 2017. Reason being his boy is a year-end Dec boy hence the choice is either to defer P1 and repeat K2; or to go for Foundation year at Pathlight in 2016. Let's say Mr Tai Kor has already decided to put boy #4 at PL-Foundation, then in 2016, he will have the chance to experience PL and see how well is boy #4 progressing then decide whether to continue on at Pathlight for P1-Standard in 2017, or to Kor Kor's mainstream school P1.

              Best regards,
              :celebrate:

                Hi Summer83!
My son used to have intravenous B12 Jab for about 9 months and I switched to B12 tablets after that. For him, we did not see wow effects when he was on B12 jab. My son did not have ulcers so I cannot comment on the effect of B12 on ulcers.

The thing about B12 jabs is that we parents have to inject it on the bum while they are asleep and try to do it on the surface so that it doesn't get flushed out of the body too quickly. It was traumatic for me. :yikes:

                  Hi Desert wind,
Yup, Pathlight Foundation year it is. Just bought his Pathlight school uniform and textbooks. He is a Dec 29 boy so yeah...why push it. Thanks for advice and thanks to all who previously advised. How's everyone doing?

My son is diagnosed by KKH for ASD when he weas 3 1/2. Went through cycles of therapies and not really useful. He was not able to cooperate with the young psychologist when he did the P1 readiness test at the age of 5.5, he was reluctant to do even simple writing. This year, with him in a SPED school, Together With a special blend of essential oil given by my SIL, my boy showed tremendous improvement, he is able to say full sentences, taking initiatives to do simple writing.

Great to hear that! I remember I was very excited when DD3 started first day at PL cos everything was new to me ... And to see your special child reach this milestone, there are no words ... Hope you will have that great feeling too, albeit being a bit silly ... šŸ˜‰

Do keep an open mind. PL is not perfect, just like any other school. But relatively speaking for me, it has given me better assurance in providing DD3 with a safe and engaging environment to learn with her peers. DD3 will move on to P3 next year. While the academics will get more challenging, will try our very best and hope for the best.

                      To a fruitful 2016! :celebrate:

                        Hi

Anyone can share methods on how to teach child about rules and boundaries eg stay in the classroom not wander off, comply with rules.
