Meaning my son in mainstream is more relax? Hardly any homework. Even if there is, not more than 2 pages. Wonder if I should be happy or worry.
Hi Double E,
Yours got Chinese spelling?
Is your son prompt in handling up homework? My son has a few episodes of not handing up homework to teachers. The teachers did not complain but I know because his homework would still be in his bag and after checking with other parents, I know most of them handed up except for my son.
I have communicated to the teachers a few times to remind my boy to hand up. But there are still slip ups. So I made him write down the things that he need to handup on a card, made him memorise and put the card in his pencil case to remind himself. Just started it this week and thankfully, it is working.
I was abit upset with the teachers as I thought they would tally the homework received with the number of students they have. But I guess in a mainstream environment, we cannot rely on the teachers too much and have to find ways to solve the issue ourselves. I also see this as a way of cultivating my boy to remember what he needs to do and have more initiative! -
Hi Double E,
My son brought back a writing book the day supposed to summited to teacher in class, seemed teacher let him did some correction and summit again, he just brought back. So far they don't have homework, just the Chinese activity book and spelling book for parent to sign. Based on my son, teacher assign a group leader to collect book for the group. I am not sure how your school works, but I think you need teach him when to summit. Maybe he can't find the proper timing. No worries, it takes times. Your son pay attention in class or not? You declared his condition and got any extra support?Double E:

Gisten, that was super informative. Thanks for sharing and you must be so proud of your son. Don't forget to congratulate yourself too for all the efforts put in to get him to where he is now :rahrah:
Do you know if the vocational track option also offered at the same time as the standard and foundation track if the child CMI academically? Or is that offered as and when identified during IEP? -
Gisten,
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for your sharing! Its really inspiring ... Your child has really come a long way. :celebrate:
I am wondering about the secondary pathways for full standard, merged and full foundation. Do you happen to have any idea? eg. As I know, full standard can lead to Express or N(A) depending on T-score, how about merged or full foundation? Can full foundation go to N(A) or will it only be N(T)?
And in the merged stream, does it make a difference whether the child offers two standard subjects and one foundation, vs one standard and two foundation ?
Excuse the handful of questions. -
BTW I didnt know that PL Secondary offers extra one year for their students whether Express or Normal (A). its good that the school is providing for the additional time that our children need. Great comfort to know this.

Hi All mummies,
my son who is 5 years old CC has feedback that he has some emotions regulations problem as in he is very touchy to comments, get upset easily, cry easily and not able to perform in big class setting (his class has 25 students). Teacher need to talk to him on 1-to-1 basis or smaller group then he’s able to do it.
He actually has been receiving intervention at intervention centre for past 1 year and during that 1 year feedback is that he doesn’t have any issue of tantrum or emotions at all cos during that one year there’s never once he throw a tantrum.
Personally i don’t blame the CC for trying to push him away from their school but i’m at a loss now. i wonder is there any recommendation for a good CC where the teachers are more patient . We couldn’t send him to kindergarten cos both of us are working and there’s no one to take care of him in the daytime.
And any ideas what kind of therapy does my son needs? and any recommendation and what are the charges like?
Appreciate all your feedback and help -
Hi Mummies,
is there any other alternatives other than school bus to PL? The school bus to my residence, Pasir Ris is full & my boy will be starting in PL primary 1 on 15th of Feb 2016. My husband & I can't send him to school ourselves.
Thanks in advance!

consider shift nearer to Ang Mo Kio : if your son going to study in Pathlight from P1, until Secondary school, for the next 10 years.Hi Mummies,

This is a more practical, long term feasible solution.
Then, you don't have this school bus issue ( Pasir Ris so far to PL in Ang Mo Kio, exceed more than 15 km), your son don't have to wake up so early in the morning (very tiring), not to mention expensive school bus fees charged, easily cost at least $230 or more, per month.
joining car pool (if can find one) is only a temporary solution, but not a long term transport solution
