      Hi NLA2310,

There are a number of places like

      1. Kits4Kids
      2. Divinity Especial Needs Intervention Centre
      3. St. Clare School for special Education
      4. St Gérard’s School

I have not engaged their services before so maybe others can give u their reviews.

        Hi NLA2310,

I had visited iciban nurtureland before and it is relatively alright in general and the fee is quite reasonable. What is your concern? Do you like what you see? I also know a parent whose daughter is in this school since N2. The reason why I never let my son join this school is because the journey is too long (20mins car drive). It is good to let your son get intervention while waiting for govt eipic.

Anyone has recommendations on a special needs tutor who can teach English composition? Having poorly Organised, incoherent and truly weird compositions.

                  Hi Mummies with experience,

How do you tell your kids that during examp time, they must finish the paper on time and not day dream? My boy didn’t do well for his Eng paper yesterday as he was not focusing and not on task. Only did 5 out of 8 pages hence only scored 16/25. Well, the consolation is that, despite not finishing the paper, he can still pass, so meaning, he actually do know his work. But this is not good and I can’t let him have this habit for long. And thankfully, the Eng paper was only a trial, the actual one is next week so I still have time to drill him.

Strangely, he could be on task for his maths paper and speed test. Can do 30 sums in 5-8 mins and complete 50 questions in 30mins. Wondering why not for Eng when at P1, the paper should not be too difficult for him.

The teacher had walked to him a few times to remind him of the time and usually at home when I set a timer for him, he would be concious about it and aim to finish it asap. Could it be just one of his moments yeserday?

If anyone of you has other tips, appreciate it if you can share. Thanks

                    Hi Double E,

Long time no see. Did he wear watch? Can let teacher tell him what time supposed to summit the paper? Does he care for marks?

                      Hi Niu2009

No he doesn’t and I didn’t want him to wear. He is very obsesed with time, he will spend his time looking at the watch then doing the paper. I have tried letting him wear on weekends, his eyes are constantly on it and report the time to me like every 10mins.

On marks, he cares. He does want to strive for full marks. In fact, he called me after school to tell me he only got 16/25 because he didn’t finish his paper cos he has no time.

Teacher reminded him about time when he is doing the paper and will indicate on the white board what time they are to submit. He could even tell me start at 11.10 and must submit at 11.40am.

I looked throught his past worksheets and realised he waste alot of time doing extra work. Eg. for MCQ qns, instead of just writing the number in the bracket, he will write the answer on the blank and in the bracket. So instead of spending 5mins on the MCQ, he could be spending x2 more. Or when instruction asks him to circle his answer, he will purposely draw a square instead.
