I recommend this art teacher Thom.

He is doing it on a house-to-house basis, on a one-to-one arrangement. The students under him have even won competitions, the latest being the LTA art comp i think...

My kids enjoy his classes a lot, from using mixed media, using oil pastels to poster and watercolour and the works. πŸ™‚ Not justthat, he incorpaorates crafts into his lessons, so the kids get to do craftwork which they display in their studyroom. πŸ™‚

His price may be pricey, but worth every penny spent! Ive never believed in cheap CC courses where you get 30 kids of varying ages vying for the attention of one teacher... NO WAY!
but I'm happy to see my kids learn to appreciate art, and have a better understanding of colours and textures and shapes around us... Most importantly, they have learnt patience!!! this is a virtue i can't stress more, especially for my DD who can be a bit of a hyperactive handful. Those with an active todd will know what i mean haha

      Anyways, here's the webby

        Dear Mariadcruz,

I click the link for a check. 10 lessons for a minimum of $500 is real expensive.

Hi Charmaine, yeah, I started off thinking quite the same way. But when i saw the results, I was really satisfied. My two can be quite a handful, especially with a lil ADHD...but that's another story. Teacher Thom showed a lot of patience and I saw with my own eyes how they improved , not just in art but all areas of life.. The teacher doesn't just teach them art, but uses other materials and art mediums(?)...Also he speaks to them like friends, that's what my darlings tell me...
which is what I would have wanted for a teacher when I was a kid!Ha! My two tells me they enjoy the class, unlike other academic ones where the teacher just comes across as stern and ....too serious.

I wouldn't say money is not an issue, but when the results came in, and I saw my DD and DS so so happy with their artwork and about themselves, I felt it's worth it... As a parent, I can't help but think their the centre of my life and I don't want money to be the one thing that holds me back from helping them in any way I possibly can... πŸ™‚ I don't know if other parents feel the same way.

            Dear Mariadcruz,

Appreciate a lot for your feebacks.

May i know how old are your kids now and how long it takes to see results?

Is this a group learning or one to one session?

I am sorry to hear that your kids have little ADHD? How do you confirm that they are ADHD? I guess you must have hard times dealing with them.

Mind to share can your kids read yet?

              Thanks, Charmaine. πŸ™‚
I don't want to come across like I'm hard selling the art class... but you know how it's like when we mums find something we like and MUST share... be it recipes or good teachers and classes. Haha
I always feel that it is important that my kids and I are happy with the teachers. I know some parents would haggle over price and stuff, and that they bargain with the teachers to down the price. For me, I sometimes worry that the enrichment centres are NOT making enough and would go bust! haha Then Id have the trouble to find a place or teacher that my darlings like! it's more stressful for me and the kids that way!

DS is 2 going on to 3 and DD is 6.
It didn't take long to see the result. After the first lesson, I was pleasantly surprised. Because of the different art materials and craft taught, the kids picked up many many things...so the results speak for themselves. πŸ™‚ I guess what the kids need is someone they trust and respect and willing to listen to! I've tried teaching them art myself, but the results are...less than professional / desirable.Ha!

My darlings attend the class together, so it's probably considered a group. Teacher Thom did give me a discount, bless him! ha! I didn't even ask for it, as i was happy to see my darlings love the lessons so much. They always talk about him, so I know they must worship him like an idol! Ha!

About the ADHD, yeah, I brought them to the docs psychiatrists and all... but it is okay now that I've accepted it... In the beginning, it was so tough...No parents want to accept their kids are less...than perfect. ..if you know what I mean πŸ™‚ It isn't such a major issue anymore, seeing how they have learnt to be more patient and responsive...In a way, I would have to admit the art classes had a hand in helping my kids... and me. At first it was so difficult getting them to sit through any class...Now they turn up ready for art and other academic class...The teachers all tell me they see an improvement... I'm happy just for that!

The older girl has started reading a little...just words here and there ..I set up a home personal library for her... As for the boy, he is very much a talker... but doesn't quite recognise many words. Charmaine, you've reminded me to start reading with him more often. Ha!

Hi, this thread is called Art Zone so would be better if discussions about others could be done in other threads?

Anyway, I'd like to share two paintings my children did recently at Art Zone. The peacock is by my 6-year-old and the self-portrait is by my 4-year-old.

                  jacsplace:
He's 4 years old. Yes, he did attend a few ad hoc classes at Art Zone. He seems old enough now to be able to sit and do one thing for 90 minutes (finally!).

hi jacsplace, per Artzone website and the teacher at bt timah plaza outlet, for age 5 and below, the duration is 1 hr per lesson instead of 1.5hr. But for your 4yo boy, the teacher gave him 90minutes?
