Hi,
First time parent and totally new to these enrichment course.
My child is turning 4 this year. Looking to enrol her at LCentral or I can Read Tampines this or next year.
Will like to know:
1) any recommendation and why?
2) what do they evaluate during the assessment test?
3) school fees for both
4) any referral code - discount?

Hi.....

For Lcentral, the progress depend largely on the kids progress. They have foundation, launchpad and liftoff stage. I find their liftoff program a excellent stage for children to be able to bridge the preschool and primary school gap.

In foundation, the kids will be taught first sound. Most of the kids will learn in preschool. I would suggest parents to emphasis and revise first sound with your kids first before going for assessment.
In launchpad, the kids will be taught to identify, access and differentiate sounds in words, focusing on first, middle and last sounds. They will teach grapheme blending and introduce sight words. The sight words are essential to help kids to be able to read independently.

In the liftoff stage, the speed is faster as the children are used to the teaching method. This is also where the will learn most. I find this program the most beneficiary to the children. Once they are familiar with blending words and sight words, they will be taught decoding. Also they will be comprehension, grammar, vocab, composition writing. At the end of this program, the children has no problem in Primary 1.

The assessment test will mostly test the kids first sound, last sound or middle sound. If above 6 year old, maybe some sights words.

Lcentral fee is 550 on weekday & 620 on weekend for a term of 11 lessons. Teacher are native speaking.

Referral code is $50/30 off, but must be under same centre.
I know Jurong east, punggol and woodland can use referral code among these 3 centers. My kid is at Jurong East centre.

It is a good summary. I have the same view about Liftoff & LaunchPad as two of my kids are in Lcentral.

However, I'm not sure about their P1 & beyond programs. Any views?
