Hi all, I've submitted my child application for phase 2B but now I change my mind and would like to withdraw, I'm not planning to register another school in phase 2B but will only register again in 2C. Anyone can please advise how can I withdraw the application?

Frankly, I’ll just leave it for now. Unless you are so certain that you will qualify for the school in 2C, no urgency to act now. You should wait and see. There is ample time to withdraw on day 1 of 2C.

Not all primary schools are equal; and not all primary schools are the same. The difference starts with the apex and then filters downwards.

FWIW, the government will only build 'standard' facilities for the schools. Government aided schools can choose to build non-standard facilities (such as gymnasium) but they will have to raise 100% of the building fund for these facilities. Many such schools did in fact utilise the opportunity provided during PRIME to build / include these 'non-standard' facilities. Guess here's an area where the two groups mentioned in the para above will come in handy :evil:

When you put that combination of better funding / resources, motivated teachers (see zac's mum comments about teachers wanting to join the school - as opposed to, you know, being 'posted'), and highly involved PSG (because kiasu parents exist, in real-life, not just on the net), the schools end up not being equal and not being the same.

My child is turning 4 this year. Looking to enrol her at LCentral or I can Read Tampines this or next year.
Will like to know:
1) any recommendation and why?
2) what do they evaluate during the assessment test?

For Lcentral, the progress depend largely on the kids progress. They have foundation, launchpad and liftoff stage. I find their liftoff program a excellent stage for children to be able to bridge the preschool and primary school gap.

In foundation, the kids will be taught first sound. Most of the kids will learn in preschool. I would suggest parents to emphasis and revise first sound with your kids first before going for assessment.
In launchpad, the kids will be taught to identify, access and differentiate sounds in words, focusing on first, middle and last sounds. They will teach grapheme blending and introduce sight words. The sight words are essential to help kids to be able to read independently.

In the liftoff stage, the speed is faster as the children are used to the teaching method. This is also where the will learn most. I find this program the most beneficiary to the children. Once they are familiar with blending words and sight words, they will be taught decoding. Also they will be comprehension, grammar, vocab, composition writing. At the end of this program, the children has no problem in Primary 1.

The assessment test will mostly test the kids first sound, last sound or middle sound. If above 6 year old, maybe some sights words.

Lcentral fee is 550 on weekday & 620 on weekend for a term of 11 lessons. Teacher are native speaking.

Referral code is $50/30 off, but must be under same centre.
I know Jurong east, punggol and woodland can use referral code among these 3 centers. My kid is at Jurong East centre.
