Haha, I m just thinking of enrolling my kids for English enrichment & want to know the facts.

Btw, I was initially keen in Tiong Bahru centre, but was suprised to know there are only 2 teachers for all the classes. It applied for Bukit Timah branch too. As for Jurong East, there are 3 full time & 3 part time teachers.

Which branch are you looking at?

      Hi i3mum,

      Wow...you're really efficient... :salute:

34% passed with A & A* is more acceptable than just 34% passed PSLE.. 😉

        Hi

I just called Lcentral Jurong East. The lady clarified that it's 31.4% passed with A & A*, the rest of them also passed.
        [quote=\"Tinkerbelle\"]Hi,
66% did not pass at LCentral??? :!:
Is it possible that she's referring to only 34% passed with A & A*?? :?
Students need to score 75% and above to score A & 91% and above to score A*.

        Hi i3mum,

Just to share that for 2009 PSLE, 43.9% of the entire cohort scored A and A* for English. This means the students in LCentral performed worse than national standard.

LCentral is almost similar to ICR. Slightly cheaper than ICR. Both sons are in LCentral. For my K2 boy, I think the LiftOff program is pretty good. He loves going to the class. Now, he reads so much better and with more confident.

As for Success program, I personally think it is good if the kids is those self motivated type of kids. Not suitable for my elder son who is passive type of learner. Hence, I do not see much improvement for him.

Best is to take time and go check out the various centres. Because only we know roughly what suits our kids.:)

            Hi gaagaa,

Can I know the ‘not so gd’ new teacher 's name? Can PM me?

Anyone has any experience with LC English tutors at Jurong East branch? I got a \"not so good\" new teacher who was caught for not completing the workbook in class despite having only 4 children. Wondering if I should continue with the term... appreciate your feedback, thanks 🙂

            Hi gaagaa

Can I know if the ‘not so gd’ new teacher is from UK. I intended to sign up my DD at that centre. However, my sis told me she spotted spelling mistakes made by the teacher in my niece class, not once but few times. I was like :? This is a English class and it's supposed to be teaching them proper Eng, be it written or spoken.

                  Hi HappyAvon,

                  Thanks for your feedback.

I had enrolled my son 4.5yo last week. He is in foundation level. He wasn’t very good at phonics eventhough he had learnt phonics at Montessori early this year for a term.

He reads P&J book 5b now and i see great improvement in him. However, he is not motivated/keen to read anybook on his own. He doesn’t like to do homework, not anything academic. He prefers to be read to and playing with scissors (arts n craft).

HappyAvon, would you mind to pm me your name and child’s name to enjoy $30 discount for both of us? My son is on Saturday 9am’s class.

His teacher is Paula. He wasn’t keen to go to this central to study, i did feedback to the teacher before the class started. Luckily he changed his mind after 90minutes lesson.

Hope he progress to next level fast enough.

Let me know early as i need to provide information to the centre this saturday.

                  Regards

Hi charmaine, nice to hear u had enrolled yr son..dun worry n give him some time...I'm sure u will see his progress... Once they had started n enjoy the lessons, they will like to go for the class..this is watt happen to my girl...always playing at home...we dun forced her but we do hv fixed schedule for her to revise her work or doing her homework...always explain to her when time to play, she can play until siow..but when time to do learning, revision n homework, I want her to be serious n concentrate...so far she is doing well...

Maybe u can start n let him try to choose his own book? Normally they will buy what they like n will be interested to read..for my girl, I will let her choose n then see whether its suitable for her....She can buy as many books as long as she completed reading them...no chucking one side is allowed...

My girl is now in PFS n she nvr complains abt the difficulty of the content but she likes the challenges n she feel very motivated whenever she do well...

                    I hv pm u my gal's details...

                    All the best .... :celebrate:
