I was told the boys wear bermudas and pants. Can someone advise what are the dress code in school so that we can decide on how many to buy? Is it often dress down days or full uniform? Thanks for any information.

They all start from scratch. My boy did well for psle but did not do well in for Sec 1 n 2. Failing in one to two subjects does not surprise me. But there are students who did very well and score well too. It really depends on their own effort. And how they handle their new found freedom. Lol. Let them find their own path and grow up from there.

Ya, strangely this term cca continues with the common test. I actually forgot if it was so all the time. My elder son’s CCA is less demanding over the years so I don’t feel the impact. My younger one is sports and it is HORRIBLE. By the time he is back, he is dead and tired. Totally unable to do any revision. Tough balance between passion and studies.

Every year there are many who does not make it to school team or any position in their CCAs. Spoken to teachers and they share that some will pick up and try again and some will go through the motion for their CCA. I wonder how to even stay motivated if teachers do not pay much attention to these group of students. Maybe there won’t even be any form of encouragement? Maybe teacher does not bother much and does not take action even with feedback given?

For such cases, how to encourage our DS to even stay motivated? Will passion die off if lack of encouragement and then end up going through the motion eventually? Hmm…

What does the student councils do in school? What is the difference between them and CMC? Does getting into student council take up a lot of time? Anyone with information to share based on your experience or your son’s experience? Thank you in advance.

      simplycho:
Hi everyone, I'm planning for a trip to taiwan in Dec and will be bringing my kids and parents along.. I have only been to taipei but not outside taipei and I'm thinking to include some farm activities during my upcoming trip.

I gathered that Flying Cow Ranch is in Miao Li and Cing Jing farm is at Cing Jing.
      May I know the following:
      1) Of the 2 places, Flying Cow vs Cing Jing Farm, are there activities to do within walking distance of the accomodations?
      2) I'm not planning to visit any mountains like Sun Moon Lake or He Huan Shan as we are quite afraid of heights.. Does getting to Flying Cow or CJ farm require driving up long winding road?
      3) Is it possible to reach CJ or Flying Cow via HSR in Taipei?

We're thinking to take HSR to CJ or Miaoli then hire a driver just to send us to n fro our accommodation and spend 2N either at Flying Cow or CJ and not require driver during our trip there

      thanks!
      1) Of the 2 places, Flying Cow vs Cing Jing Farm, are there activities to do within walking distance of the accomodations?
      - I have not been to flying cow but went to cing jing. There are paths which you can walk and enjoy nature there. Most activities are at the farm.
      2) I'm not planning to visit any mountains like Sun Moon Lake or He Huan Shan as we are quite afraid of heights.. Does getting to Flying Cow or CJ farm require driving up long winding road?
      - CJ require driving winding road. It is on the mountain so you cannot avoid that. For Flying Cow, I think it is at lower grounds. There is not much winding road.
      3) Is it possible to reach CJ or Flying Cow via HSR in Taipei?
      - Not possible for CJ. When reach station, you need vehicle to drive you up the mountain. FC maybe easier but also will need transport to there from HSR.

Since you are going with parents, I suggest drop idea of HSR. Get a driver. Easier. Good for old folks as they walk less and have seat every time when you travel. Also don't need carry luggage since they are in the car. You can free your hands from luggage and can enjoy with both kids n parents. My mum simply loves it when I brought her 2 years back with a driver. 😄

Yes, I think the teachers had shared with them on the allocated CCA today already. Do check with your son.

School ends at 10.15am. There are no lessons. They will be wrapping the CNY hampers. Not sure if there are other planned programs. You can double check with your son.

My son also in the same situation. Since it is ranking, it means that they are simply not chosen because there are others who are better than our kids. Quite sad hor. I share your thoughts. Yes, he can still put CO as his first choice but you have to know that the chances are low. My boy is into sports but never got selected at all even too even though he represented school for national competition for 3 years. We will still choose it as first choice since it is still his first love.
