Hi I haven't read any feedback with regards to lcentral. Any constructive feedback about then ? Any branch to recommend ? My DS is 4 plus. With icreative for a while but couldn't see any progress. Unfortunately they group kids according to age and not ability.

Hi giraffeviolin, my gal has been with lcentral when she was 4, now turning 6. For early programs, she was accessed by ability but recently after she completed liftoff they say that its grouped according to age. Thus while the rest of the 7year old goes to success 1 after liftoff, she was redirected to Preprimary class. I wasnt very pleased with the arrangement, initially wanted to let my girl try out the preprimary for 1 term, but the classes were very very limited. Only 2 wkday and 2wkend to choose, thus I gave up and will be temporarily stopping her.
If the management does happen to take the effort to read review in KSP forum, please do note that it is very puzzling why kids who have completed the same course, shld be of the same ability. Y are they channeled to different stage after completion based on their age?

Hi, my child has also completed the liftoff program a few months ago and she is 6 years old this year. Initially I also couldnt understand why my child has to attend preprimary program while others who are older can progress straight to Success 1/2. I spoke to the staff and was given the assurance that the whole program is still ability based. If your child is good, the teacher will recommend him/her to the right program. And the staff is right. After 3 months, my child is recommended by the teacher to go to Success 1 and she is only K2 this year.

I think it is better for the teacher to assess and recommend, rather than to insist that your child progresses to the same level as others. Students in the same program can have varying standards too. Personally I prefer to ensure the right foundation is giveb before moving up.

yes, i agree it is good if its ability based which is the reason y i chose Lcentral. But what was communicated to me was that its age based from Success stage onward not ability based. Unless the child is certified gifted then it will be on a case by case basis. Although my gal has tested gifted, i didnt want to raise it up further. Mayb diff centres are run differently from success programs onwards.

Kindergarteners and primary level students have vastly different outcomes to work towards and expectations placed upon them. For that reason, it is recommended that kindergarten students who have finished LiftOff Learn-to-Read continue in LiftOff Primary Practice until they reach primary one.

Completion of LiftOff Learn-to-Read does not mean a student suddenly has the same ability as primary one student. It simply means the student has mastered the reading skills necessary to successfully enter term one of primary one.

Many outcomes, especially those in grammar and composition writing, are better developed in LiftOff Primary Practice for kindergarten students.

Further, primary level students in LiftOff Learn-to-Read undergo one term or more of LiftOff Primary Practice.
