I do not know what criteria they look at but i'm sure they do look at their primary school results too.
For last year, the process was different due to this year we are all hit by COVID19, and all are done via e-interview.

Last year they were all assessed by their test (for Math, they were given text to do. According to my son, it was like Sec2/3 question). A passage to read about social problems and how they handle etc etc, plus the interview by the panel of interviewers.

I really do not know how they assess the boys on the offer.

you shared above that, your son is in 2020 Sec 1 Catholic High (IP) this year, and Total have 5 IP classes.

Out of these 5 IP classes assigned, may we know, how many classes are strong in Maths & Science ?
Do Catholic High split up these 5 IP classes, like eg.

1) say, one IP class is dedicated to those students strong in Maths, ie.
this IP class have students entered via (Maths academic domain DSA entry path + those had scored A * in 2019 PSLE Maths last year, had entered via PSLE Tscore, Non-DSA, all put together into the same IP class)

They do mix students via t-score in the class

I know there's another class has students DSA via bilingualism and some students offered for DSA in Humanities are in that class

Yes. It depends which school your child applied. Some schools still want to maintain a minimum score which differs from PSLE entry requirements.

Hi tweetybird, do you mind sharing with us examples of schools that need above 200? The common understanding according to MOE guideline is DSA students need to get a minimum of 200 to qualify for express stream. I have not heard of any school implementing their own rule, not even RI/ RGS. Am I outdated?

Yes as per my knowledge, it is 200.
My DS last year got the CO, I called up RI and CHS to check what is the minimum score. Confirmed minimum 200.
I thought I heard wrongly and reconfirmed again.
All schools follow MOE requirements.

Just to share some info


My son was last year PSLE. He got CO from CHS, on Mathematics domain.
I called and confirmed with the school that as long his T-Score is above 200, he will be in CHS if we accepted the CO.

So if anyone needs any info regarding the interview in CHS, I will try to help by sharing the questions asked and also what CHS is looking at.

Without any experience in competition, chances are very slim. There's no harm trying of course, but I think your best chance is using t score.

Yes I agree. Based on what we gone thru last year, I think your chance stands higher via t score.
But having said that, it also doesn't mean no chance at all. No harm applying for it. If get shortlisted, do go for the selection and must really speak and present well during the interview.
Without competition experience, still have chance but slim.

Most important is to manage your DD's expectations. Must prep her and explain to her that ultimately, her PSLE t score is most important. Got CO or not, is secondary. Cos I do know from few parents that their child got affected by the unsuccessful DSA outcome and it affects his/her PSLE performance.

Your results are yet to be consistent. I suggest you aim towards achieving consistency in P6 and you can try DSA for Maths.

Yes agree. The result is not consistent. Try to push Math to score between 95-100. And the rest of the results to be at 90-95.
This will give you more chance for Math domain.
