Many CHS boys ended up at MSHS during the time when MSHS COP was still low 230. Others ended up at St. Gabriel’s, 220+ school. It is probably not so common to have below 220 from CHS since it is a GEP centre and well known for its high academic standard.

For students taking HCL, triple science and double Math, are they considered as 9 or 10 subjects?

In the more popular schools, the kids usually come from better family background. We can’t deny that the school environment, culture and values play a significant impact in each child growing up years.

It is certainly not a level playing field yet. Those kids who excel in sports, check out the school fees at SSP. School fee alone is about $500+ per month and boarding is another $500+. Not every family can afford $1k+ school fee just for 1 child. We have not added other fees such as tuition/ enrichment.

If I put my kids in a school where affiliation COP > 230, I will probably be more stressed up pushing my child to study extremely hard every day to get at least 230. Otherwise it is like end of the world in a way because child can’t even get into the affiliated Sec school. It can be quite depressing.

In that case, pick a school with no affiliation. By choosing a school with no affiliation, you will be ‘affiliated’ to about 150 schools in Singapore.

      It is a mindset thingy.

Indeed it is. You are right, affiliated to some 150 schools just that the names of those affiliated schools sound more atas.

Yes, one point less, also cannot come back to their Affliated Secondary school.

Last year, on that very day of 2019 Psle results released (announced), some St Nick P6 students cried because they scored 229, merely one point less seems insignificant, one point only, not talking about 2 or 3 points away, also cannot come to St Nick Secondary. In the end, MOE posted them to some other Secondary schools, based on their list of 6 choices submitted
For 229, just missed by 1 point, I will appeal but not sure of the success rate.

ACS is a good choice because it has ACSI and ACSBR. We really do not know what will happen during PSLE so it is always good to have a “just in case” backup plan.

Looking for recommendations on p2 comprehension assessment book especially the open ended. I have tried the mastering comprehension book but it is not so effective, looking for alternative that can provide step by step guidance especially on challenging questions. Any tips how to teach are welcomed. Decided to pull her out from enrichment centre as she could not apply technique learnt despite attending enrichment centre for more than 1 years and the enrichment teacher never figure out when I asked her anything to focus on until I found out her weakness through her schoolwork and mini test.
Hi, you may like to consider these 2 books.

After that, you can move on to another book where the difficult level is slightly higher.

Last year cohort is smarter. The PTM was in May 2019 so form teacher should be using 2018 PSLE results. Anyway I think 230 is just an estimation. It could be +/- a few points depending on cohort performance.

Usually, parents are the ones who are secretive and competitive. Kids do not usually “hide” unless the parents tell them not to disclose anything. These 11-12 years old are still innocent. My girl is happy when found out that she has 2 classmates who DSA the same school/s as her, different domain.
