My son got 228 ,we are staying at bidadari area, i need someone advise me my selection as follow:
1. Edgefield secondary (COP 230)
2. gelyang methodist sec (COP 231)
3. Ang mo kio sec (COP 229)
4. Hai sing sec ( COP 225) *1 hour travel
5.bowen or pei hwa ( bth COP 226) which better?
6. Mayflower or deyi ((COP 224/222) which better?

Above are safe or him yo secure the place?
Thanks

You might want to swap choice 2 and 1 around. All your choices are quite closely cluster around your dc tscore which is not very safe. Can include top2/3 Schs abv your dc tscore. 4/5th at or below your score. include a school with -10 points below your dc Tscore as the 6th choice (safety net to ensure you get a choice sch). Since no physical open house, do go to your chosen schools website/Facebook to see if they have e-open house or recorded sessions. If you and dc are on, try going to the actual schools, recce around the surrounding etc. from abv exercises should give you a feel of the schools. (Though nothing beats physical interaction in the open houses)

Hi always18,

Thanks for your advise, my adjustment as follow:
1Gelyang methodist sec (COP 231)
2.Edgefield secondary (COP 230)
3. Ang mo kio sec (COP 229)
4.Bowen sec (COP 226)
5. Mayflower or Deyi ((COP 224/222) which better?
6. North vista sec (COP 218)
I think more safer :D
I think there is a Mayflower MRT station opening in Q1 next year. You can check if it is within walking distance to the school. If it is, Mayflower is a better option if taking public transport.

Wow, such evil thots. I have no child in P6 this year, just to be clear. 😄 😄

That’s why I don’t understand why there are people who say COP may go up so it is risky to put xx school because you may not get it.

Just put it in if you want to try. Even if you are like 4-5 points away from last year COP, as long as you have other sufficiently-lower COP schools to catch you.

This is the last year of t score - and one of the advantages is choice of school does not matter. So go for it!

(Unless you are in the situation where you may lose your affiliation bonus if your dream school is not your affiliated school and your t score may not meet the COP for non-affiliated students).

I certainly agree with this. Just put the dream school as the first choice. It is all about demand and supply. There are 6 choices anyway. Who will know if the school is adding extra classes or reducing its class size. Who on earth will know COP for PLMGS will drop to 237. The person who choose this school is very lucky.

Neighbour’s son studies in St Gabriel’s and COP reduced from 226 in 2019 to 225 in 2020 due to 1 more Express class added.

I think if schools add more classes, COP will reduce slightly and vice versa.

hello to ALL,
today the Sec 2 posting results was out, and i suffered a rude shock.
My daughter scored B4 in Math, A1 in Science, A1 in Literature, but got posted to combined science, pure Lit and POA.
Form-teacher said due to her SA2 Math failed by 6 marks, she is not advised to take A-math!
It doesn't make sense to me.... those good in Math can do pure Sciences, while those good in Science cannot do both Math?? How the school got this kind of unrealistic mentality!
You may try to appeal, request for your girl to take A-Math next year. At least, the school should allow her to try for a year if the student has the determination to take up the challenge. At end of Sec 3, review again if she should continue in Sec 4 or drop the subject. Personally, I do not see any problem in giving it a try in Sec 3.

Ds find maths paper tough. :((
I am so worried that all of you find it so easy.
Hi Xueyan, my girl found Math paper tough too. Among the 4 subjects, Math the most difficult. Sigh!

The wait is killing me! :frustrated: :siao:

Am i right to say right now these are the few schools that has released the results
1. HCI
2. NUSH
3. SNGS
4. ST MARGARET
True enough, the waiting game is not fun at all.

So far these are the schools that I know too, have released the outcome. Not sure if there are others because some parents may not want to share if the outcome is unsuccessful.

I have the feeling many schs r waiting for prelim results to be out to judge the students’ result range.. before deciding.
Oh yes, you are probably right. All prelim results are out this week.

Are there any primary school Teachers here who can confirm - are there any secondary schools who contacted your school to obtain the DSA students’ prelim results?

DSA outcome by last working day of Aug in previous years.

Due to Covid-19, DSA started later this year and outcome by Monday, 14 September 2020.

All the best to your child!
Thank you Coast!

Yes, I know right. In previous years, DSA outcome will be made known by end Aug but then I remember many schools start to release the results 2-3 weeks prior to end Aug. Towards the last 1 week or so, only left with a handful of schools that had not released the outcome but this year is quite different.

Is this year release of DSA results taking longer than previous years?

Meanwhile, one of DD’s classmate has received CO from St Margaret yesterday, sent by post.
