these are my observations.between GEP syllabus and MS syllabus, there should be a distinction between the two.If there is no distinction, why separate the students? might as well just merge into one.Yes, many schools have their MS students doing science projects, competing in Math and spelling competitions, but isn’t getting drilled for PSLE one of the main observations of MS students?like what zbear said, why double standards? For this question, I like to switch to another area. Why do some companies have staff employed under the Management Trainee scheme? So why these companies have double standards?what is their goal?Is there a link here? Is MOE following their method? If so, why? What is MOE’s goal?will MOE give each of us, the parents, a satisfactory answer?I don’t know if they can, or if they want to, or if they need to.I don’t know. I don’t work for them. For me, the education of my child lies with me, the parent. I thanked everyone who has come our way and have provided proper guidance to my children. But the main responsibility still lies with me, the parent. so from me, why double standard?my observations: so that the students do not take anything for granted.

2ppaamm:Robots? Haha! Whenever my kids speak up in class, they always attract comments that they speak good English. Most Asians who look like us (Chinese Singaporean) are from China. So we have a little edge. Just that we need some selling skills to give us that edge to win the scholarships. Not robots but academically much more superior because of the way our kids are brought up.The other part about the newspaper, which newspaper is that? I'd be very careful to trust local papers.it was either ST or Today. the article referred to Asians born in the States...And the candidates quoted were not 100% pure Asian breed as their fathers were caucasians (thus their names don't sound Asian).Yale is the one that requires applicants to disclose their race. UC Berkeley is one of most Asian friendly League.... :rahrah:

2ppaamm:Wow, buds, your girls have very good teachers, I must say.Yes, we're blessed to have found a good school for them to have a goodPrimary foundation. It's like a neighbourhood school with banded teachersand school quality at the same time being extremely rich in aesthetics. We're still awaiting for replies from schools within thevicinity where we stay now... the girls while excited abt being in a new plcare also worried that the teachers won't be as nice or understanding. 2ppaamm:They are no inferior to the elite schools. :celebrate:2ppaamm:It is interesting that you get to ask those questions in PTM, because I never had to. I suppose in my case, i wondered why they never called since she startedwith them. :lol:2ppaamm:Walking around: He is disturbing the class, and if he walks, others also want to walk so how can we control the class? We cannot give him preferential treatment.:roll:2ppaamm:Talking too much: But I don't even know what he is talking about. We don't understand him. (Actually he goes too deep into the topic for P4.) He is just babbling nonsense. (???)Mebbe they only have sufficient knowledge up to the level they're teaching.. :laugh:2ppaamm:Helping his friend: I don't want him to leave his seat and disturb another child. His friend doesn't need his help.:snuggles:2ppaamm:But those are the one or two that I met.http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php2ppaamm:There's this one great teacher I met, though. She would make sure my son is ok, and goes to his rescue whenever he is in trouble. Because of all the traumas in school, my son is highly anxious and afraid of school. There was once he came home without his school bag as the teacher wanted him to do something or he cannot go home. He was so afraid he ran off without his bag. After what she said, i might consider going home too. 2ppaamm:There again, he would have missed out some fantastic friendships and that one or two great teachers. I guess there are two sides to every coin. Win some, lose some? Yes indeed...There will always be 2 sides to every coin.

Guest:phankao:Only thing is, yes, acknowledge the benchmark for express is at a higher level than for children who are not homeschooled. But why should there be a difference in apply for sec 1.But yeah, homeschoolers actually do not participate in s1 posting. They have to apply directly to the schools they want. So maybe they only get the \"leftover\" places as such. But this is really unfortunate for this homeschooler because I heard most people who appealed to schools this year with low T-score also get admitted. eg. 230 appeal can get into a girls school when it's usual COP is about 240. So with 25x, can get into a reasonably good sec school. What some homeschool parents do to get around this situation of their homeschoolers not getting into top schools with top scores, is to finally put them into just any neighbourhood primary school for their P6 year. That way, the homeschool child getting 260++ can be eligible to participate in S1 posting and not be left behind to any places leftover after S1 posting is over. That way, if the dear child wants to continue his/her secondary schooling in the national schools can easily have a place in RI/RGS/NYGH/NUSH, etc. Ah, the system is so unfair, right?
