    • RE: Lower Secondary Mathematics

      Thanks for the great answer!

We have come up with the answer (quite similar to the expert one), however according to the rubric from the teacher, they are looking for more than 2 solutions to be provided. Any chance to have more solutions available than the guess and check method? Thanks again!

      Hi,

      Another question that need help:-

"Molly Mathematician cant remember her gym lock combination. The physical education teacher wont provide her with the combination, but give her the following clues about the combination:
      1. The 3 numbers in the combination are between the numbers 15 and 30.
      2. The sum of the numbers is 70.
      3. When you square each number in her locker combination the digits 1-9 will appear only once in the digits of the 3 square numbers.

What is the combination to Molly`s locker?

(From my trial and error method i found out the three numbers are 19, 23, 28 (sum is 70 and square of each number is 361, 529, 784 where the digits 1-9 appear once). Now, we need 2 more other strategies to tackle the problem!)

      Thanks!

      Hi,

Anyone can help with this question:- (Find X)

      x / (x²-1) - (x+3) / (x²-x) = *-3 / (x²+x)

Note that in the question * is written as
      -3
      ----
      x²+x

      (Ans is given as x = -6)
(I can’t get the answer, either I am not solving this correctly or the question has an error?)

      Thanks!

      Hi iwork,

      Got it.

      But guess it shd be:

      =(7xy+3)^2-(x^2-2xy+y^2)
      =(7xy+3)^2-(x-y)^2
      =(7xy+3+x-y)(7xy+3-x+y)

*guess you want to put (7xy+3)^2 instead of (7xy+2)^2
But anyway, you have provided me with the right way!

      Thanks!
