Can anyone enlighten me what are the options for scenarios below:

1) At Yr 3 in DHS, student realized really cannot cope with IP.
2) At Yr 4 or Yr 5 in DHS, student decided not to continue IP. Can they go Poly, without an O level cert?

Thank you!
Hi,
DHS does have an O Level class in Y3/4 for students who may not be coping so well with IP, so for (1) I think they can just transfer to the O Level class after Y2/3.

For (2), I do know of people from DHS who transferred to poly, but I'm not sure what route they took (those that I know of are in the IP stream, not the O Level class)

ksks:

Does anyone have children in DHS Chinese Orchestra? Can share the no. of times of training per week in Year 1 and then subsequent years?

A mummy told me before (her DD now graduated) that Kids in CO need to sign up for compulsory external training with a DHS's approved music school. You may like to call the school to find out more.

It's Shangyin Music School (844 Sims Ave, Singapore 400844), and the DHSCO music instructors are all instructors from there if I'm not wrong.

Besides the music school training, there's sectional practices and orchestral practices as well. Usually once you're involved in the JH orchestra, the main practice timings are Monday (sectionals) and Fridays (orchestral). Nearer to the annual concert trainings will be more hectic, especially if you're involved in more concert pieces.
Thanks for sharinga13313. Do you know what is the GPA to remain in IP (below which have to go to O level class)?

That'll be 2.4 generally. As in if you get 2.4 ((minimum requirement for 7AU)) you'll be safe, but sometimes if there's too many ppl below that GPA they'll lower the GPA requirement.

Thanks a13313. All the best to your A levels this year!
Thank you!

Double science double humanities (8AU)
Triple science single humanities (8AU)
((Add one AU if the student takes 3rd Lang, MEP, SOVA))

GPA requirements:
7AU: 2.4 and above
8AU: 2.8 and above
9AU: 3.2 and above

Min Min:
Hi, my DS is in sec one.

Would like to check the standard of marking of test paper in Dunman. E.g. DS wrote the correct answers on the test paper instead of the graph paper as per instruction. Out of 9 marks, was given 2marks ..:(

A 3 marks qns, answers were correct but not using correct way.no marks given. šŸ˜ž

Really that strict? Must really follow teacher's method?
Firstly if the instructions were to write the answers on the graph paper, he should only write his answers for that question on the graph paper, if he writes the answers anywhere else, he can be marked wrong. (Though it seems good enough that the teacher gave two marks, since based on what I remember when I was in DHS Y1 four years ago, it won't be marked at all.) Just remind your son not to make this mistake again just to be safe from losing marks in the more major exams such as common tests or the EOY.

Secondly, for the 3 marks question, there may be a few reasons:
1) He got the answer by luck and the method was actually incorrect.
2) Question asked you to derive the answer from your answer in the previous part (i.e. Hence, find the answer for xxx (for a Math paper) )
... and so on, but you can ask your son to approach his teacher on why his answer was marked as incorrect despite his correct answer.

Hi I'm a Y1 student from Dunman high. I would just like to clarify if there is a mind sports cca. I checked the school website mind sports is listed there but it was not in the cca briefing that the school gave us and it is not on the slides as well.

Btw my first day had been great! The orientation was really fun today šŸ™‚
Mind Sports is a CCA offered to SH, not JH.
Wait until you finish your Y4 EOYs to consider that CCA
Glad you had fun for orientation, enjoy your years in DHS!

for students who had entered Dunman High via T-score road, not by DSA -

how much opportunities are given to them, to take part in Maths Olympaid, Chemistry / Physics / Bio Olympaid, at Inter-Secondary schools' competition (Sec 2 to Sec 4 level) ?

or

opportunties are only given to those DSA students : who had DSA into Dunman High, via Maths & Science ?

any non-DSA student here, can share your experience, if you had participated before ?
Hi there, I'm a current Year 4 student in DHS who got in with T-score
I had many opportunities to participate in various Math Olympiad competitions.
I can only say for the Math Olympiad competitions.
For Singapore Mathematical Olympiad, they will send an email with a form to register for SMO, anyone can participate.
For some of the other math competitions though they will test you before you can enter the competition (all students can participate in the entry test)

(of course, it's recommended that you excel in the subject before you consider participating in the competitions)
