Blue Pearl:
thank you abbeym2j4. It seems that teachers are good here. Can i have more feedback about this school like teachers and students. How about the workload for sec 1 and sec 2. Thank you.

I personally feel that the teachers are quite hardworking and helpful. Of course, there are teachers who don't reply to email but there are some who reply very promptly. The school rules is very strict and teachers get on pretty well with the students. So far, my girl and I are happy with the school. I feel that they are very much like IP schools as they have quite a few projects and presentations now and then. So far, homework still manageable is the project that most probably take out their time.

Any idea what the school's O level results were like?

      Hi
I don't think TKGians will do badly. Their result has been quite consistent for years. % of students getting 7 or more subjects passed is above 90%. Eligibility to JC/Poly/PU is above 90%. I spoke to a mum who said her girl has not been working hard and didn't perform well in school. She was telling me that if her girl can passed and got into a JC, that would mean that the school has actually prepared them well. Her daughter graduated in 2014 and is in JC2 this year šŸ˜„

      CatMoon:
      Hi abbeym2j4,

Secondary school English is more focused on Comprehension, Editing and Summary. If you want assessment books, get those that are focused on each individual sections.

For comprehension, practice going through each paragraph and then annotate on the sides (underline impt words, circle adjectives, etc). Need to break down the passage and understand before even touching the questions. It's not like in primary school - need to use different techniques. Just do one compre thoroughly a week (not many, it's quality, not quantity).

This is because English in secondary school is similar to studying Literature - must understand the nuances and inferences.

Thanks for sharing the tips of preparing him for his English. I am not very sure what is his problem. He scored well in his Literature and has always been strong in his English. Hence, I do not know why he couldn't do well for English paper. :scratchhead:

Any parents can post a Secondary one English mid year paper and answer to share here? My boy is doing badly for his English. We want to let him try out other school paper and to confirm his problem with his English. We do not want to invest in assesment books as most likely he won't have time to complete it as it's already end of the year.

      Thanks in advance. :?:
Any one how tkgs performance in o level 2014

My fren told me that ave L1B5 this time is 12+ points.

A further drop in 'O' Level performance by 2014 cohort.
      A concern by parents.
% of students with 5 Distinctions or more dropped compared to previous years.
Average L1B5 is more than 12.+
Hi, I am new with this forum and my elder child is with tkgs. May I check where did you obtain the past records of tkgs's performance. How drastic is the dropped? Possible to share with us their past performance? Any idea, generally how did the whole cohort in Singapore Fair? Passing rate improved may not necessary mean that distinction holders will go up. I gathered this from the PSLE performance during my girl's year. Many outstanding students were shocked with their results as it seems like they were underperformed. (Of course, some did improve too). This happened to students who were from other schools, they were my girl's tuition friends and some are my friends' children. I am sorry that I have posted too many questions at one go as I am inexperienced for this is my first child in sec sch. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
