Any updates on allowances in secondary school, esp with the price increases mentioned 1-2 pages before? Wondering how much to budget for and looking for guidance. Thanks.

RE: All About Erhu
thanks for the info!
if the only 2 exams are those by shangyin and nafa, then we will look into registering for the nafa one this year as we’re not in sg yet and i see the closing date for the shanghai exams with shangyin is next monday.
thanks again! -
RE: All About Erhu
my son was due to take the grade 8 erhu exams in Shanghai this year, and we’ve received word we’re moving back to Singapore and so he won’t sit the exam in shanghai, but hopefully he can take a graded exam in sinagpore.
1) is NAFA now the only test center for graded erhu examinations? (beijing exam)
2) i saw mention in an earlier post about Shanghai erhu exams being held in Singapore, but am unable to find info about that online. Please could someone point me in the right direction?

RE: School Placement Exercise for returning S'porean children
Future Academy:
Hi Future Academy, do you mean attend P6 classes in a school and then after-school private tuition, to prepare for SPERS? Is a P6 student studying in a local school still eligible to take SPERS? i was under the impression that it's either PSLE (if as a student in school locally) or SPERS (if returning from overseas), and that a student in a local primary school must take the PSLE if in P6. Please correct me if wrong? Thanks!
Hi tinalimct,tinalimct:
Hi Everyone
Like 'totallyeclipsed' did 3 years ago, my family and i will be returning to Singapore in July with our P6 daughter who will finish G6 (IB) here in Germany by then. We are also going to put her to SPERS in Sep for S1 postings.
Was wondering if 'totallyeclipsed' or any parents out there who can share your experience through the process.
I'm really concerned if my daughter can manage the Singapore exam format.
Is it a good idea to put her to a primary school from July to Sep or should i just give her private tuition in the 3 months to prepare for SPERS?
Would really appreciate any advice i can get.
Thanks a zil!
Why not put her to a primary school and give her a private tuition at the same time?
i.e. go to a local school in the morning and give her a private tuition after school.
To get prepared for SPERS, 3 months is not a very long period of time. Your daughter needs to study all P5 and P6 topics as she plans to go to Sec 1 next year.
Just to share with you, our centre had 2 students who prepared for SPERS for 5 and half months last year. They had private tuition with us everyday for 4 hours (2 hours for Math and 2 for hours English). They did very well and went to RI and crescent girls in the end.
