    • Going for Appeal - Swiss Cottage, BPGHS or Commonwealth Sec?

I would like to still ask about Normal Acad in the above schools whether it is easy transfer to Express - what will be the percentage required?

I understand that Bukit Panjang Govt High School has not any transfer in last few years due to the large gap between Express (T score 245 & above) and Norm Acad (193 & above). They also do not encourage upgrade.

Any know about the percentage required to be transferred as I would like to give my DS a chance.

    • RE: Bukit Panjang Government High School

      Hi Parents of BPGHS,

may I know how the teachers achieve the academic standard of the school? Is it through clever and clear teachings or plain grilling/papers and doing usually tough papers?

An alumni whose daughter (148 score) just graduated told me that the school has changed alot. It has no human touch and did not nurture her daughter.

What do you think? Is it because she is not in top class whereas normal acad will receive good attention because there are only two classes and their cut off is v high (from 193 onwards to 199).

I am thinking whether to let my son go BPGHS for normal acad

    • RE: Should twins be in the same class in secondary school?

Being a twin myself and having go through same school and class (except in secondary sch) with my younger twin sister, I feel the best is if we had gone to different sch.

One of the twins tend to rely on another for social circle etc usually the older one which makes the older twin less sociable. You can’t tell that the person is less sociable from outwards but the person does feel inadequate when she grows up and has to make friends. Another valid reason to go separate school is that they will then be more popular with the opposite sex. Most guys are confused - like which one should they choose and on what ground since they look so similar?

    • RE: Sec Sch in the west for 194

Can anyone tell me how BPGHS do the job to achieve band 1? Was it from clever teaching or sheer grilling? I understand a Kiasu parent who graduated from there said lower secondary sch was given higher secondary sch work to stretch them. If this is the method, it is not suitable for my son as he learns well from basics.

    • RE: Sec Sch in the west for 194

Thank you so much. I know that Kranji is good but I did find them a bit too obessed with discipline on punctuality, hair/skirt/socks length etc. Therefore, I am considering Bt Panjang, Swiss Cottage and Commonwealth Secondary as these accept higher COF for norm acad. Have you heard about them whether their teachers are encouraging?

Despite the merit of doing 5 years, I was thinking if there is any good express school in the west which I can consider which may not do so well academically but with good school culture i.e. good kids and encouraging teachers.

    • Sec Sch in the west for 194

My son scored only 194. He is a very good boy and had been easily intimidated by bullies and hence the poor performance. Is it good for him to go to a good sch like Bukit Panjang High or Commonwealth Secondary sch to do 5 year normal academic?

Or should I still send him for sch which accept 194 for express. Is there any school with caring teachers and overall well behaved kids although not perform so well academically in the west - Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Batok, Bukit Timah and Jurong or even Woodlands?

      Pls help me!!!
