RE: Appeal Secondary One Posting
btsfangirl_:
btsfangirl - I am sorry if the call really did not come through. I am sure many people will be telling you this - but there is a silver lining to every cloud. You may look back at this moment 4 yrs down the road and realise it was not so bad after all since you had a lovely time in the school you eventually pursued your secondary education in. That is exactly what happened to my son - I remember the anxiety, the hassle of not buying books and uniform, the phone calls, the disappointment. But in the end my son has just completed 4 yrs in a school that was not even on his radar before the PSLE result - and has had an enjoyable journey.Alchemist:
Hello, i still didnt get any calls from sngs regarding my appeal, but I have hit the COP. My Fellow Classmate next year, (stillthinking) has gotten a call yet her marks are the same, why is that so?
Im really saddended by this, and when i called yesterday they said by today 5pm will call if chosen, yet when i call this morning they say already ended. Which is the reliable officer answering my enquiries? I really dont know whom to trust. Very sian...
CHIJ Secondary is a great school too - I went for their open house in Octoberr and was really impressed by the calibre of the students who spoke at during the P's talk. I had to go and commend them on their oratorical abilities. They have programmes to stretch the academically gifted girls - I was really impressed with the welcoming spirit shown by the girls. I am sure you will shine and soar in the school.
I wish you all the best.
Thank you, Alchemist
I will work hard :')
But is it advisable for me to appeal again in sec 1/2 to sngs again?
Why not? If it is your dream, pursue it. But be mindful that mid secondary transfers are more rare. So ensure you continue to embrace your current school and immerse yourself fully in it - love its strengths and forgive its weaknesses and allow it to nurture you fully. You arr obviously a bright and motivated girl - keep up your positive spirit. That will shine through no matter where you are. And if after a year or two - you still think it is SNGS- why not, indeed? -

RE: Tanjong Katong Girls' School
Are the TKGS+ programme modules available for all students - or only for selected students? If selected students - typically what are the criteria for selection?
Also - does TKGS allow students with no primary school HMT but only A in MT do HMT in secondary?
Would greatly appreciate if some parents can help answer.
Thanks -
RE: Tanjong Katong Girls' School
Sneha…have sent u a pm. Wd love to connect.
quote=“sneha”]hi honeydew,
TKGS has had good O level results thus the rumour about not preparing the students for exams is really just a rumour.
The school’s testing is rigorous and perhaps even a cut above the rest. the girls in the school study and play hard. very balanced equation and its a rather happy place.
about needing external tuition … well this is really up to the individual. Tuition should only be seeked if the individual is struggling and the need for tuition may be present in any school as long as the individual things he/she needs extra help.
the school has outstanding programs for english, has drama elective in year 2 and many other enrichment programs to develop its girls academically as well as in character. congrats to a new start!!
-
RE: PSLE 2015 : Quality Passes in Primary Schools
Punggol Primary had 100% pass for mainstream.
About 77.9% going to Express stream. -
RE: 2015 PSLE Discussion and Strategies
Also, for Commonwealth Sec Sch, I see that the express (lower) is 237 and (upper) is 239 (median) and (higher) is 268. So which COP we should look at?
Thanks in advance for help.
Since I am not from the West, I am not really conversant with schools you have mentioned. Just wanted to respond to this portion. The COP is actually the lower score. - ie 237. It refers to the score of the last student who got into the school last year. That is the score you should be looking at to determine whether your child's score will enable him to get into the school. - but please note we can never know the COP for next year until the posting results. This is just and indication, it may be higher, lower or same. Depending on how many students apply and what are the scores of the students who apply.
Median - if the scores of all the students who made it were lined up from lowest score to highest score, then median would be the score of the student in the middle. That means half the students would be above him and half below. Some parents like to look at this number - they would rather send their children to schools where their children are closer to the middle - not the bottom - which is the lower cut off point.
Higher just is the the highest score of all the students who got into the school. So someone with 268, could have possibly gone to RI maybe, but decided to put Commonwealth as first choice and was obviously the first person that the computer accepted into the school.
All the best for your son. And hope he gets into a school of his choice.
Cheers -
RE: 2015 PSLE Discussion and Strategies
Wps2003....if she has CO..pls relax and enjoy. She only needs to make the cut off for Express stream which is around 200. The way your dd sounded she will definitely do way way better than that. She is guaranteed a place. My friend's son got CO for TJ a couple of years back....the cutoff was 255 then. He scored much lower for PSLE but he is s happy TJC student now. That is the beauty of a CO.
Congrats to your daughter and enjoy your lovely break before she goes to her dream school.wps2003_:
Yes she received CO for TJC but is there still a COP?
Alchemist:
I seem to recall your daughter got CO for TJC from another forum. In that case it should not matter, no? Maybe I am mistaken....but remember a very mature young child using this id.
All the best to her and you....all will be revealed in slightly more than a month. I also find myself having these thoughts and concerns but try and tell myself, nothing can be done about it now. So just enjoy the 'break'...
We received the 2016 Sec 1 posting bookletoday DD aiming for TJC thou she is not very confident with her PSLE papers. She usually get 2A* and 2 high As but after PSLE she claims that she would at most get only 4 high As... how? Her best subject is Math but she said it'll probably be the subject with the lowest mark since she was so careless :gloomy: She usually get close to full marks at around 97-98 any chance of bellcurve for Maths being lowered? :xedfingers:
