Hello, I wish to find out if it is really necessary to stay within 1km of TNS to ensure a place in the primary 1 enrolment for TNS.

My wife is a former student and I believe it qualifies for phase 2A(1).
I saw that balloting will be conducted for applicants staying within 1km. May I know if the balloting will be done for all phases and only those within 1km?
Is there any statistics on how many applicants each year for each phase?
I understand that there are school buses going to many places around the school which are not within 1km.
So it is not really a requirement to stay within 1km to get a place in primary 1?
