RE: All About Math Olympiad Training & Questions
Yes many students who participate in SMO Junior do take AMC 8 and 10. Always good to have exposure to competitions because one of the key techniques about Olympiad is time management under competition pressure. It is important to keep track of time, sometimes even having to give up solving some harder questions in order to maximize your time spent on others. But for AMC 8, I believe everyone is aiming for perfect score.

Why is the \"free\" in inverted commas?
yes, the school normally provides \"free\" training for those who did well, in fact, DS2 has 7.5 hrs of MO training every week (including external FOC one), more than any of his other subjects.berrymom:
Thanks iRabbit ! u really REALLY like to tease him but that's really too high a hat ! he's only just lucky that some questions he knows, there r definitely other kids much better in math in his school/others. only that they prob spend more time in other subjects, maybe not on MO now. Mine will be doomed when psle comes...
Dagong99,
eh, u know he might not even pass I'm still looking for practise papers lol...this AMC jus pop out so suddenly. He will prob treat this as a good learning experience lah...cos too many assignments I dun want to stress him at all. But seriously I might need to drop a note if any chance of rep the sch this year or better still he might get selected for 'free' MO training. I really wld like to save $$ if possible lol... :moneyflies:
Sometimes I wonder if he is doing it at the expense of other subjects.

Yup I am impressed! He must have done very well in AMC 8!
P5 already taking AMC 10 ? That's amazing ! :salute:berrymom:
Littleprince,
You can look up for math Olympiad (junior 1) by Terry chew or Math Olympiad for primary schools (introductory) by Longman...these r available in popular n meant for P 1&2.
AllAboutMathOlympiad,
Thank u for the link ! Sigh * We r still paying ourselves cos my Ds school didn't send him. I dunno maybe they only start later in P5. Next time maybe I won't ask him to wear his sch uniform for any prize ceremony. Just wear his own clothes  -

AMC 10A - 2 Febdagong99:
Oh,not till Feb? Okay, Thanks,Berrynom for the update.

Will ask DS l late about the AMC 10.
AMC 10B - 17 Feb
Ds jus told to go for 10b n I dun know if got time to practise w sch work now slowing piling up ...he tired I also tired...
Berrymom,
A and B are similar in terms of difficulty. B is more expensive than A though for those late registrations (not that applicable in Singapore since the school will cover the cost?)
Anyway here is a webpage which lists down the upcoming math competitions in 2016, as well as their registration deadlines. Hope you won't miss them again!
