Just went through abacus short course. A thought on it. It’s very technical and dry and nowhere you can be "creative". May not be suitable for young kids if it doesn’t interest them. It’s just a drill to do the homework n sit through the class. Lots of "theory and formula to remember…can be fun to some if they like to tackle and play with tools. In my opinion, k1 is the youngest to start.
It will only benefit as much as your child is drawn and show interest and has good attention/focus, if not, they would not yield the benefits. Just imagine getting a secondary school kid to learn masters mathematics formulas…it just strains them too much. Basically, that’s the whole idea of learning maths in preschool in a fun and creative way, that would get their foundation going already, why abacus? they learn about numeracy in a realistic environment with concrete materials through play etc…
