RE: Oversea Educational Trip - To Go or Not to Go
I think not all school allow the parent to follow on such trips. My girl’s school is one of them who doesn’t allow parent to join in, reasons being, the child will stick to the parent and wouldn’t be independent. But come on, for a P4 child (only 10 yrs old) to go to China / Cambodia / Vietnam, don’t tell me the parent is not going to worry sick ?
My girl is in P1 and very adventurous and she’s very keen to go for a 2D1N camp but I’m still hesitating. I wouldn’t dare to take the chance as she is my only child. -
RE: School Bus Seating Arrangement
Thanks super_dad for the thread.
Since LTA's regulations allow 3 children to share a double seats meant for 2 adults, I guess I have no say in this matter. No wander all the parents of those affected children though not happy but dare not to voice up. Everybody is waiting for one another to raise the matter as we are all afraid that our child may be blacklisted.

School Bus Seating Arrangement
Hi everybody,
My girl is in P1 this year and is taking school bus both ways. When she goes to school , she board a huge bus but when she returns from school, she is make to squeeze with other children, i.e. 3 children sharing 2 seats, in a 21 seaters bus (I think is 21 seaters). Total number of children is 28.
Those who are bigger in size or just join the school bus as newbies get to sit on the single seat but those who are smaller built have to squeeze like sardine. Just imagine, with their heavy school bags occupying half of the seats, where are they suppose to sit ? I feel this very unfair to other children as everybody in the same area / estate pays the same price.
My questions are as follows :-
1) Is 3 children sharing 2 seats in a school bus lawful ? Can I bring this matter up to the LTA or the school ?
2) If so many children are make to squeeze together in all the 2 seats row, isn’t it very dangerous should there be an accident ? Those sitting outside will definitely fall on the aisle and properly hit their head against the other seat.
3) When other children alighted, my girl sometimes will take the single seat so that she can sit comfortably but the auntie (bus attendant) disallow her to do that and insist that she squeeze at her own seat. Isn’t this ridiculous ?
Anyone has such experience to share ? -

Hi ChiefKiasu, raynreg & ctct61t,Hi ctct61t
Congrats to you and your kid. RM is very a very popular school in your area. Of course, the other is CHIJ Kellock. About GES, do you know how the school perform in their PSLE as a whole. Is the performance of your colleague's boy in GES an exception rather than norm. I stay very near to GES and its our last choice or final back up plan.
Hi niecoco
Sorry to hear that. Wish you all the best in your next choice of school.
Hi alyplwwf
Its though out there with ratios of 3:1 and you have done your best. Would you care to share which schoold would you be moving onto.
Cheers to all
Raynreg
Actually before registration, I was in a dilemma choosing between RM and GES. My girl likes both schools and my No. 1 choice is RM. Based on the result on the second day of registration, I thought of pulling out from RM and go to GES but on second thought, I decided not to give up till the last minute and always think that I may not be that unlucky one.
Now I regret my decision. Should I had register her at GES, I do not have to worry for another week. Now GES has only 53 places and I am worry how high is the chances of balloting again at 2C supp ? I am also considering New Town and Queenstown as the vacancy is much higher but these 2 schools are much further from my house, I think more than 2km and I do not know much about these schools. In fact the nearest school to my house is Blangah Rise (just 5 mins walk) but that will be my last resort.
Just for info, I have put my girl on waiting list at RM but chances are very very slim as the admin staff told me that more that 40 are ahead of me and some parents are on the waiting list even before yesterday's balloting. Wow, really KIASU !!!
