RV Performing Arts is out!

Did anyone receive any news for RV Performing Arts? Do they usually send rejection email on the same day too?

My son is shortlisted for the DSA English selection test on Sat. It says 2 papers in 2.5h with short break. May I know what would the format be like? Creative essay and SAT style vocab/compre? Or maybe 2 essays? Feeling rather overwhelmed!

Yes I think next year 3.1 to 3.3 are the weaker classes. 3.1 especially I think. So 3.4 to 3.6 are the better classes. The top 3 in my DS class got into 3.4 and 3.5.


Btw CL classes will continue to be banded right?

Does it mean that 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6 are also the better classes? My DS said that 3.1 to 3.3 will have 30 students in the classes and are the weaker ones. So APS is also doing away with banding the top students in the same class. I wonder if this is a good strategy as the students in APS are pretty diverse in academic ability.

Yes thankfully everything looks fine and the first 2 days of P1 were pretty well organised. I was there both days and I saw the P around most times observing the different sessions. There is a new VP (academic) from Pasir Ris Pri which is a very well run school. So hopefully higher standards and best practices to come next?

Thanks slim_tay for the reassurance. I went down to the school today and am pleased to see that it does look better now. Still lots of dirt from construction but teachers and staff are moving in and the canteen is operating (though taps and water cooler are very dirty still). Peep into the general office and really tempted to look for Mrs Tan.


I guess slim_tay is right. Mrs Tan is probably very different from the previous P. And when there are changes people will react. I only hope she has the teachers on her side. And that the teachers are professional and caring.

Yes the P said we will be meeting the form teacher in the classroom. But the teacher I met said she isn’t the form teacher, just helping with administration for the day.


What to do, we just do our best to support our child. The site problems are really unfortunate and I think MOE assigned the site without looking at the wider development of the area. We need to monitor and make our concerns known to both the school and MOE. Parents are stakeholders and I think they will take us seriously if we make enough noise.
