Yes, my son had been taking lessons from a teacher who is also a registered psychologist trained in teaching students with learning disability and attention deficit problem. In fact, she was also the psychologist who confirmed his dyslexia and wrote the evaluation paper that was submitted to MOE by the school to have his chinese exempted.

My child was diagnosed as having ADHD and dyspraxia when he was much younger. Thankfully, the teachers in his school had been pretty understanding and was able to help him cope (eg. place him right in front of the class/seat him next to a model child and to constantly prod him into attention when he starts losing attention in class). We were advised to start him on medication since P2 too but we didn’t want to do so then.


Then in P4, during one of the parent/teachers session, his teacher advised us to get our kid tested on his learning ability as they suspect that he has dyslexia. He was faring pretty okay in his math & science but he had borderline/failing marks in both english & chinese. Initially, we were skeptical about it but we went ahead and got him tested and true enough, he was diagnosed as having dyslexia. We were then told that we could have the option of having getting him exempted from Chinese due to his learning disability and also get extra time during his exams (including PSLE). Also, as advised, we also started him on ritalin.

After that, his grades improved tremendously and his self confidence also improved a lot too. I was really touched by the help from his teachers in school without which, we wouldn’t have known about his condition.

Yeah…My friend also received the letter from the CC few days ago informing that the award ceremony will be held tomorrow! I only just heard from her which is why I’m querying in this post whether any parents from the SE CDC/Mountbatten CCC have gotten their letters yet. I called the CC and the guy who answered the phone said the lady in charge will only be in the office on Monday. I asked if he knows whether there is any activity this weekend, he said he doesn’t haha! I guess I have to call the CC tomorrow morning to see if there’s anyone else I can ask and to cross my fingers that it’s not this weekend. It’s the first time my kiddo is getting an Edusave Award (Good Progress) and we are really glad for him and he’s really happy about it too (a great boost to him since it’s PSLE next year) so I really hope we won’t miss it.

Hi, any idea when the award ceremony will be? The first letter was sent to my ex husband and he isn’t in town and seldom opens his letterbox. My friend just informed me that her son’s edusave award ceremony will be held tomorrow and she only got the letter last week. My kid’s one is under the South East CDC/Mountbatten CCC.

Yeah, being an old boy from ACJS would mean you would fall under Phase 2A(2). Your son should have no problem getting into the school.

Don't worry too much. During my son's time, there were several applicants who were above 2km range that got in under 2B phase via balloting. With the priority going to Singaporeans this year, who knows? At least u have the opportunity to register one phase earlier. Good luck!

lilfeets, how would anyone know the chances when registration has not even started yet? Every year is different…the only positive aspect this year would be that Singaporeans would get double the chance compared to the PRs I guess.


happeemommie, no. Your husband must be an old boy from ACS Primary or ACS Junior in order for your son to be able to register under Phase2A. Phase 2A is for a child whose parent is a former student of the primary school AND [not or] who has joined the alumini association. If he is merely an Alumini member and does not come from ACS (Primary or Junior), it would be under 2C.

By the way, I live >2km, so I think I'll have to go for balloting even in Phase 2B. But I guess I can just take my chance before going for other school in Phase 2C. Not sure whether this is a correct decision.

Well, I believe as long as you have done what is necessary to transfer your membership from your previous church to your current church and that you are an official member of that church, there shouldn't be any problems. You can check with your church if you arent sure..

Yes. Give it a try under 2B..a friend of mine managed to get her child into the school under that phase even though she's living in Hougang. Then if you are unsuccessful, you can try for another school under 2C.

If i'm not wrong, as long as you are a (baptised) member of any one of the church that is part of <a href=\"http://www.methodist.org.sg/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=16 \">MCS (The Methodist Church of Singapore)</a>. you would be eligible to apply under phase 2B to ACSJ.

Do note that if you are not staying within 1km of the school, balloting would most likely be required since this has been the case for the past few years.
