      Dear all kiasuparents users,

any recommended school in Sengkang for phase 2C supplementary? Currently left the following school for P2CS:

      - Sengkang Primary - 52 students registered
      - Northspring Primary - 56 students registered
      - North Vista - 56 students registered
      - Palm View - 97 students registered
      - Anchor Green - 66 students registered

We are staying in Compassvale road and we just informed by MOE today that my kid’s P1 registration is unsuccessful. So just want to check with all the kiasuparents users to see the above primary school which is the best option.
Hi Bin98258, Might I know which school did you register unsuccessful if you don't mind? Thank you.

      To Sandraisies:

Yes, I think we should focus on what our little one like & would like to do.
I believe our DS are able to understand/learn everything, just does not want to speak out or express out...
Even for us, sometime we also do not like to talk same as the talking bird. So we should keep continue to talk nicely, tell the story, treat him same as the normal kids....with observation and try/not force to improve in the leak skills.
For me, I like our kids to explore more to the natural, real life, know the changing of environment around him, grow up on his own strength with our/teacher guidance, rather than focus on the education standard, like 5 yrs need to speak how many words in the sentence with correct grammar, can do the conversation with how many questions, can count until which number... we raise a human, not a chic 🙂
Every kid are different, now is the time for them to enjoy and explore more things so they can know which one they like to do...

      From AnnPhan
      Hi August22,

Yes, my boy is 2014 Apr of birth.

How is ur Son expressive speech and communication?

On my observation, he is able to answer our/teacher's question as a normal speech with the full sentence, but sometime it depends on his mood, we need to encourage him, talk nicely to him...
He also has a lot of friend at school and playground now and they play very happily together.
Comparing to his 3-4yrs old age, teacher said he did not want to play with any kid and prefer to play alone at the playground and did not border any one.
From my opinion, our kids do not want to play with others as he feels others are strange & not like him, or he feels unconfident... so first I play with him and treat him as a friend to build his confident & happiness when playing in group, second, I make friend to his classmates to join together with me and my son on the school trip, playing time, then, at the playground, I try to connect him with new friend...

Does he has echolalia or scripting?
My son likes to watch abc song, number song on youtube, so I decide to watch together with him and teach him through the song.
Honestly, I think its our fault that we let him watch youtube too much once he 2-3yrs old.
So now we control the timing about 1-2hrs/day and learning together. I feel he more interested once I watch and sing a song together. From there, I will teach the basic manners, ask and answer in full sentences, we learn English grammar, phonics, hanyipinying, he also like to learn abc, number In different languages, such as French, German, Japanese, Arabic... so we learn together and have fun...

Does he goes to speech therapy?
We did not go for speech therapy, we learn through youtube and video, I bought a lot of flashcard and learn with him and home.
At Shichida class, he can answer about 80% teacher's questions, sometime is faster then his classmate and he has good memories I think.
But please do not force our dear son to study too much, I think its better with step by step, one subject by one subject, take it slowly with a lot of encouragements, once we build his interested, he will catch up very fast, sometime I cant believe he can do it...there is a lot fun and happiness along the journey if we take it easy.
There is the lesson I got once I forced him to learn Piano, at the first day, the Teacher said he is amazing and has talent in Piano, then we signed for the 3 months course and forced him to go, 2nd lesson is ok, 3rd lesson so so, then start from the 4th lesson, he tried to except and did not want to cooperate anymore.
So we stop now but still let him listen to some piano songs and I want to try again by next yr.
We love all everything of him so we will not feel stressful any more. We event loves his autism actions like jumping/or clap his hand when happy, shake the head when he learn some new things, we join him and copy his actions, its amazing, he laughed a lot when saw we do so, we really enjoy the time, since then he reduces most of his autism actions...I think he feel they are funny...

      Where did he learn Swimming?
He learns swimming at Sengkang pool. Now swim like a little dog... we just try for fun and let him enjoy water more.

Hope its useful to you 🙂 We try hard ya...

    • RE: All About Autism

Dear Parents, My son was suspected autism when he was 3.5yrs. We brought him to KK. The doctor said " your son is confirmed Autism & have to study at the special school".

However, we do our way. Currently at K1 full day childcare + Meta school twice/week for 4 hrs, he also attends some enrichment class for Chinese, Shichida, swimming and catch up quite well. He can read English books, good phonics, correct pronunciation even better than me. Now we look forward to register him to P1 normal school next yr.
Just would like to share our experience, same as all other parents have a special little one, we had a hard time, childcare teacher always call and complain, even the parents of my son’s classmates requested Teacher to stop my son go to school, his classmates did laugh at him & said he is sick …. we did cry and worry very much about our dear son’s future…
But please do not give up, we believe our son is normal & smart, just he is in a different way and need the guide to come back to normal life.
We searched all the methods on internet, bought several books and tried all…
We talk to him more, play together with him whatever he interested in, sing a song together and made him laugh, spend time to him more, bring him go to playground until 9pm on weekend…
One of the good book we read is the Son, Rise by Barry Neil Kaufman & Autism Breakthrough by Raun K Kaufman.
      You can buy online.
As we are the parent, we are the most people in the world understand our little one and know what they need…
Give more love & respect to our little, one day we will see the sunrise.
