    • RE: LCentral Discussion

I prefer LP - my son was with Lcentral for a while before I switched him over to LP English and Maths -like MMM, he had low grades with LCentral.

The moment I switched him over to LP - the grades shot up…

1 If just cause of affiliation- then do think twice. Assuming that your child does not do well - even with affiliation - will it help?

Also, for the focus on the best classes I think that has been the feedback for most schools i believe.

No - I do not think so that it applies to all schools. My friend son is in Ngee Ann also P6 and greater emphasis will placed on weaker classes and pupils.

      2. Ngee Ann is not an option for me, so can I ask do u know how tkps is? Heard there may be bullying there too, maybe the degree varies!!

      No idea on TKPS sorry!
I normally exchange papers with my friend so from Ngee Ann so I only know about that school. Academic standard higher there I can say (check out Chief ranking).

      3. Also, is the standard equivalent to the kiasu schools typemornnormal neighborhood school?
      Not understand what u meaning.

Perhaps u want to bring your child see the school and then decide - that is the best cos your son will be studying there for 6years and not you!

      Hi, just to add on:

If your child is the timid or shy type and NOT bold or adventurous or confident - St Stephens is really not the place for your child.
It is best if you choose another school.

      Hi all,

I am a new parent to this forum and I must say that this is excellent.

I have a child currently in P6 (graduating class) in St Stephen.
Please find below my honest feed back about the school. My son has been studying here since P1 so I am safely say that I am very well experienced on the schoo.

      Pros:
      1)Catechism classes are excellent
      2) Big and wide school compound and huge open areas

      Cons:
      1) Rowdy behaviour and Bullying are common occurences in the school (maybe not so visible from P1 but from P2 onwards - yes). My son has ever been bullied and even accused of being a bully (being made a scapegoat as he witnessed a fight in the school compound). I have on 2 occasions stomped to school and talked to the teachers when they ignored my son when he was a victim of bullying and was made a laughing stock. My meeting was not that fruitful by the way.

It is a a known fact that if you put your child in all boys schools - you already have the truth in your head that there will be ragging and bullying as boys are in nature rough and even more so when girls are not around…only thing is the degree of bullying and rough playing.

      2) It is a well known fact that in Stephens all emphasis is focussed on the first 2 best classes. So, if your child is not in the best 2 classes - you can forget about getting the best teachers, best exercise, best school papers etc. Remainder of the classes will do normal work (as the teachers expect the best pupils to come from the best 2 classes).
I have a friend whose child is in Ngee Ann (a stone throw away) and this is not how that school works. Apparently it is same emphasis throughout with more emphasis placed on the classes and students that need help.

So it is all your consideration. I am a Catholic so I still choose this school as distance plays a great deal of importance for me. Also, there is student care.
