    • RE: All About Violin Classes and Teachers

      Hi richardL85,

I suppose your daughter would understand if you tell her the previous teacher doesn’t teach there anymore and you would like her to keep an open mind with a new teacher?

My understanding is Wolfgang, Mandeville, Mac Music and Melody SAC are reputable as violin is their forte. Their websites would have detailed profiles of the Teachers too.

Having witnessed my 2 kids learning violins, you may wish to set her up mentally where new teacher would probably expect her to be disciplined with her practices at home.

There’s a lot of emphasis on posture and straight bowing for violin. Hence the initial period might be spent on correcting wrong posture or habits which the previous teacher might have done. In other words, it probably won’t be as fun & play for your daughter moving forward.

Oh, you might also need to change to a bigger violin as she would have grown taller too. Synwin is reputable and we have bought a couple of our violins there too. Hope this helps!
