RE: 2015 P1 Registration Exercise for 2016 In-Take
Zing:
Excited for those who needs balloting tomorrow. All the best to all and for those unfortunate ones, all the best to getting into your choice of school in 2CS. I would leave it to fate and see it as if my child is not balloted in to my sch of choice, it simply means something/somehow/somewhat has been arranged for him/her to shine elsewhere. Believe that you can nurture your child, bring out their best and they will shine regardless which school they were in. I ask myself, would I want my child to be the last few in class always in a top/popular school or be among the top few in class in a neighbourhood/unpopular school? A bit of self consolation here. But it's a half full and half empty glass/small fish big pond and vice versa situation here. Just be mentally prepared and all the best to all tomorrow.

Thanks, Zing. Leave it to fate and thanks be to God. -

You would have to ask yourself if this person had come earlier, would you have moved to another school that doesn't require balloting? If the answer is no, and that you would still have stayed in this school notwithstanding the balloting, then move on because the fact doesn't change whether the person had come in the morning or afternoon or at 4.15pm. Demand is just more than supply and it isn't first come first serve. For all you know, this parent could have been \"forced\" by circumstances beyond his control too, due to another last minute parent in another school... We all don't know.ariescheah:
This last minute parents less than 1 km turning up thing happened to me.
At 4.15 school called me to say 1-2km no chance, there's balloting within 1 km.
I have been monitoring the numbers and there was still chance after the morning registration session.
I wonder why parents less than 1km don't want to register earlier, there's really not many schools in the area
Now i have lost my precious 2C chance and is feeling lost ...
It happened to us as well. 23 Sc < 1km at closed of 11am but 4 sc < 1km turned up in the afternoon with one registered at 4.15pm making a total of 27 sc < 1km fighting for 26 slots. Mind torturing weekend.
Wishing you all the best at the balloting next week.
The fact changed coz we tot we have secured a place but because of some playing the last min game and so we are all affected. Like u said, these parents withdrew may be due to another last min in another school. So the problems still lie on last min game. A roller coaster week indeed. -

Something has to be done to improve the system and eliminate such a last min thing. I feel that withdrawal shld not be allowed and parents shld make up thier minds and not playing the last min game.
What's your recommendation or any suggested process for moe?phtthp:
Since it is last minute thing no one can predict, those 1 to 2 km affected parents lost the 2C chance to enrol kid, should go direct to Moe today Sat morning, ask to see the head of moe in charge of 2c, explain what happen at Alexandra last minute, see if any way to appeal to Moe, re-register their child into another school. Don't go to individual school talk to Principal, no use because P no power, no control over such scenario. But P of Alexandra might have controlled situation better.
It is Moe that has the overriding authority, to assess what is the best way to salvage this type of last minute encounter. Some of u wrote that it is the parents fault for going off somewhere to lim Kopi, instead of monitoring stats. Yes, u are right, partly is the parents fault. However, authority on the other hand should also have done something on their side, to anticipate chaotic situation, prevent outside 1 km from applying, from a certain cut off time. Both sides are responsible, not just parents alone.
High time for Moe official to do something to last minute situation.
Not just Alexandra alone, a lot of other popular primary schools also face same scenario.
Just like those 2 last minute parents who turned up in Mgs, made the other 26 parents unhappy, now become 28 ballot less than 1 km, instead of perfect match stuff.
Since so many parents dislike last minute stuff, isn't it high time for Moe official to look into this matter, figure out what is the best way to solve, instead of letting it repeat year after year, including next batch of 2016 July registration (born 2010) ?
Do we want to see a repeat of next year batch of 1 to 2 km parents at Alexandra stranded again, last minute ?
Balloting is only held on Wed in all schools.
There is still plenty of time from today till Wed balloting, if they want to ballot. -

U have pointed out the exact feeling we have and I see no reason we cant be upset for that. Everyone is entitled to register and of course we are also entitiled to voice our unhappiness. Moody!!!Zebramawi:
Why can't that person register?? Just so that to avoid balloting for the earlier parents? Doesn't make sense to me.
that last registration is perfectly entitled to do so, for whatever reasons of part game play or other necessities like \"really cannot decide\", \"cannot get out of work\" etc etc
but that last minute registration did crush oh so cruelly the hopes of all those who had registered earlier (and thought maybe safe liao) and to suffer the anxiety of balloting AND the possibility of having to go for 2CS, so the frustration is understandable... :gloomy: -

No life and cant move on. :lightrod:raynreg:
Sorry but is there any wrong? The parent is entitled to that fair chance just like you.
some ppl just don't understand, every SC stands a equal chance. it does not mean that, u r first to enrol its mean u sure have a seat! or others have to avoid these ppl just becoz they enrolled first. to me, get a lifes and move on
