What is the advantage of IB? Will students from IB program usually go overseas for university study or they can also enter local universities? Thanks!

      phtthp:
it is good to hear that your daughter is \"very interested\" in SNGS, because the powerful self-motivational internal driving force inside her, will scale her to greater heights.

you may give a phone call to Anna (CHIJ St Nicholas Secondary school bus operator, overall in charge), telephone : 9455-0531

Anna will then give you the telephone # of the respective school bus driver, in charge of your residential area.
You can call up the driver directly, ask him what time, he can pick your daughter to school to and fro, as well as school bus fees per month .

depending on how far the distance is : from your home to St Nick Secondary, below is roughly the school bus fees, per month :

      on Cca days -
there is a Cca school bus that leave school 4.30 pm, to bring students home.

may refer to the list of Secondary school Cca(s), available here :

Thanks so much for these helpful info! Will definitely check it out. In fact, DD has decided to put SNGS as one of her choices of school, despite the long distance. We also like the school very much and agree that the warm culture there suits her personality very well. We'll respect her choice.

Regarding distance from school, I agree with SpartanMum about discussing with DC.

The most important factor is the child has to be the one who like the school. Then DC will be motivated to do well there, & go the extra mile (literary) 🙂

For my DS, his priority is a school within walking distance. Hence it's either RI or CHS in Bishan.

On the other hand, DS has 2 friends who did very well (270+/- type of t-score) stay in Bishan too, & could have entered RI, but 1 chose HCI, 1 chose ACSI as they feel the culture suit them better. Both are motivated to do well & don't mind the long travel.

On the other hand, I know of kids who are forced to go to schools that are far fr home, just becoz parents force them. And that long journey & that waking up early become a drag. They don't do very well in schools either becoz they don't fit in the culture or too tired to study. And now almost 1 year already, they are still blaming or arguing with parents about the \"wrong\" choices, or about \"hating\" the schools.
Well said! After several rounds of discussion with DD, she is very firm that SNGS is her Favourite school despite the long distance. We'll definitely repect her choice.

Her aggregate is 258+3. Just want to make sure that it's safe to put SCGS and RVH as 5th and 6th choice? The last year's COP is 253 for both and RVH is a SAP school.

Hi parents! My DD who just received her PSLE scores is very interested in SNGS. We also like the school very much. The only concern is the distance between the school and our home. It will take us 1 h to commute to school. Worry that DD will get too tired. Any students having car pool? Or taking taxi Everyday? Thanks for the info!

I have the same dilemma with DD. Now she likes SNGS very much after the open day today. But it takes about 1h to commute from home to school. Will she able to have enough rest? She always need long hours’ sleep. Any parents whose DC in a secondary school far away from home know their DC coping well?

We are considering SNGS and SCGS, too. The major concern on SNGS is the location. It seems quite far from Ang Mo Kio MRT and it takes more than an hour to commute from Clementi to there. Anybody knows about these two schools? Thanks!
My daught scored 258+3. Any chance to get in MGS or NJC? Thanks!

Since neither MGS nor NJC is a SAP school, your DD's effective T-score is 258.

MGS' last year COP - 261 (IP), 253 (O level)
      NJC - 258

She stands a better chance to be admitted into NJC, provided the COP does not go up.

MGS is adding another class next year for the IB prog so cut off pt will be diff. The sch has encouraged their girls to try for the IB if their score is 257 upwards. So it shld be safe for your dd to try if she really wants rhe school. Culture between MGS and NJC can't be more different. Which does she like better?
Thanks for the useful infomation! She prefers MGS. The open house of MRG was very impressive, while NJC open house was very simple. She likes girls' school. Today we'll be going to SCGS open house.
