    • RE: 2020 PSLE Discussions and Strategies(for those born in 2008)

hi, I would like to ask if score is 227 and would like to apply CHIJ Katong Convent for express for Non-Affilation is 229 to 237 (kid not from Affilation pri school). Is it ok to apply?

there is a remarks that 20% of the S1 places for each course (ie: Express, etc) will be reserved for students who dont benefit from affiliation priority. What does it means?

Other than CHIJ Katong Convent, any reccommended school for location at East side (located at Pasir Ris)?

sorry to ask as its our first time choosing a sec school. Thanks.

    • RE: All About ADHD : Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

      hi,

my son is 4 years old and undergoing speech therapy (speech delay) with KK since last year.

He is also seeing a psychologist since march this year as he is showing some behavioural issues at home and in school. Also showing signs of ADHD but as he is too young, pyschologist said will wait till he is older to confirm.

Have changed 2 schools and current school feels he is not benefiting fr the program and now need to look for another school.

We are thinking of sending him to a special schools. Psychologist have given us a list of the special needs school. She also mentioned that it’s not necessary to go to a special needs school but need a school which have routines, boundaries and strict discpline.

Currently looking at Kits4Kids, YWCA educational support unit and Zee School house. Any parents who have kids there? Can share views in the schools? Thank you.

Thanks Ylk for sharing about Loyang.

I saw 9 years full passing PSLE rate but was quick to see only 2010, and 2011 breakdown posted online. Now I see it again, 9 years from 2005, mean which is up to date. Sorry.

One more day to go. I cannot decide Loyang Pri, Whitesands Pri or Casuarina Pri. Each has it own strengths. Loyang - friendly community. Whitesands - New facility building. Casuarina - attractive CCAs. Does anyone has same dilemma? and which school ?
Pasir ris pri school and whitesands pri school is over subscribed now unless u wants to take a chance and you must be within 1km to quality for the ballot. As as now, casuarina and loyang still hve seats. Both seems to be quite good schools....

Hmm, you are mistaken. There are tests from p1 onwards, except that p1 does not stream students to p2. Streaming starts from p2. As for extra enrichment lessons, I would think most parents would sign kids on because of their kiasum, not so much because the kids are not prepared for the exams in school.

Hehehe, I agree w u parents signed up enrichment courses due to KS....

Btw, how do u find the teachers and mgt? One parent fr my girl class shared w me that the support fr principal and teachers r quite good and low turnover of staff.... From I seen fr the website, last year 8 teachers left and 7 new teachers joined...not sure whether the teachers left due to retirement or rotation of schools.....really appreciated that u shared so much information as it seem the school seems ideal for my girl....I even went over to the school today...sneaked in as the school gate wasn't close....the canteen is very clean...everything seems to be quite neat and tidy....good environment....

My boy is in P4 this year. For his p1 and P2, homework is very managable. In fact, I still can give him my own homework for the day. P3, slightly more homework but I must say it's still managable as well. During my son era, he has small tests, the school say it's holistic tests, to me, still tests la. But there is no streaming for p1. Results in p2 will determine the class in p3. Btw, i am a FTWM.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Can check w u...since they dun have exams from pri 1 to pr3... Do they attend extra enrichment classes like maths, English, etc? I heard from my neighbors that majority students need to attend as they r not tested in lower primary levels and when tested in pri4, they r not prepared for it? Is it true?
