• RGS Special Art Programme

My girl has been admitted to RGS via DSA Art and will be taking its Special Art Programme. May I find out from parents who have their children attending this program to give some more information / feedback?
Specific questions:

1. Schedule / time per week
2. Level of commitment / course work / assessment
3. Impression / other feedback opinion.

Appreciate your help on this. Thank you.

May I check for year 1, what kind of subject choices do the students have to make, and then subsequent years?
Thank you for explaining

My girl stays nearby and therefore can try to take a public bus. However, the bus stops opposite RI. May I know whether students are allowed to cut through RI and walk to RGS via the overhead bridge ? Thank you

I also would like to know what’s the school and SAP workload for the children.
Would like to hear from others who have children in this.

• RE: DSA 2024

Hi I have a question to ask. I have received a confirmation letter for my kid through DSA. But they post a condition : need to meet PSLE AL score for group 3.

I check on line it seems to be 7 - 22 affiliated, 6 - 11 non-affiliated.

Question:
Does DSA go via non-affiliated route?
Or is a different system?
Thank you

Out estate is going to collect used uniforms that has grown out of size. Will the school or anyone be interested in collecting them for use? The uniforms are supposed to be still good to use and cleaned.

Aurorasea, that’s because your girl hasn’t even started P1 yet. Where got exam results??

What I heard is once your P1 takes her first exam (May or October 2019), and u apply for transfer to other schools after that, the new school will ask for the exam results. If that’s not important, why would they ask for that??

Hi Zac's mum. Very sure I have asked the school admin about transfer AFTER P1, specifically.
That's why i'm now feeling confused.

Hi

Can I check if the application of transfer is needed only one time regardless if you apply right from Primary One?

Thanks

Transferring schools (from P1 onwards) is based on the child’s exam results. So you will need to resubmit your application, eg. after each mid-year or final exams.

This is something I don't understand. I called up my school of choice and asked about how to transfer my kids when there's a vacancy and also asked about priority rules. She just told me it's based on citizenship first, then school distance, and PV / membership status. They do not take into consideration exam grades. They say it's according to MOE rules.
Is there such a thing?? :torchme:

• RE: Is Montessori enrichment good to prepare for P1?

Personal experience :

I think montessori is excellent because it uses materials to demonstrate the concepts of mathematics (by using counters, beads, models, shapes). I’ve seen how it uses materials to teach divisions, multiplications, additions, subtractions, fractions and geometry to children in a fun (and visual) way that makes complicated maths appear simple. My daughter was taught entirely by Mont method and has no problem migrating to MOE method because the foundation is already established.
