SHHK takes the age of membership into consideration when allocating their Phase 2B recommendation letters. I joined SHHK at a very early stage, i.e. when my wife was expecting with my eldest child.

I guess we might be coming to the trend where you need to join SHHK the moment your kid is born or even in the stomach... might come to a day right after you get married .... :rotflmao:

My friend also joined right after baby was born.

Heard last year they only gave out recommendation letter for members more than 4 years. Is coming close, at 6 years old is when your kid register, maybe for the coming Dragons babies .... :scared:

I am not surprised by SHHK stand.

One couldn't possibly have discovered that he/she is a Hokkien only 2 years prior to the child's enrollment in primary school. What were they before - a Hakka?
Age of membership and the activities u have helped out as volunteer in ~ ..

Won't be surprised to see some SHHK members shift to Chongfu tomorrow.
Should see a fair bit of movement and new applicants in a number of schools tomorrow.

Think not the clan must have recommendation letter to the school they applied for and the submission and letter eligibility is known last week already too late for application of recommendation letter ~ if I'm not wrong

Before SHHK issue phase 2b letter to the schools in the clan, they first ask the parents which school u want to apply for ? Then they keep a headcount for each 2B letter they issued to parents, knowing which parent going to which school.

Eg : parent X : go Ai Tong

parent Y : go Nan Chiau

parent Z : go Kong Hwa

parent P : go Tao Nan

can't switch camp last minute to Chongfu

also, those targeting schools in the east (Tao nan, Kong hwa) can't be switching over to Chongfu so far in the north.

Who can switch camp, then ?
Only grassroot or religious group. Not parent volunteers, tied down to a particular school
Precisely .. Thanks for the elaboration .. (Btw I'm under shhk) anyway for grc the citeria is the grc zone that you live in or the zone you serve in .. So even that's not all around the island .. It would be limited by 2 zones max (even if one serve in a zone and continue serving there after shifting to another zone)

Ur grassroot letter will indicate the constituency u serve. And the schools you can register in will be those within the GRC u serve.

Kong Hwa is in Mountbatten constituency but maha bodhi is in marine parade constituency.

So u can’t apply for either school. Only one of them unless u serve in both constituencies.
I think you can only serve in the constituency where you live in. This is the new rule.
Hi galaxyraider,

Tks for your kind reply… Keeping my fingers cross now! Lol
Think there are cases u serving in one consistuitency then you shift but you still serving the old grc …

13 schools already oversubscribed, and it will only get worse tomorrow. Amongst them are 4 out of the 5 SHHK schools. Chongfu is the only SHHK school that is not yet oversubscribed, but it has only 12 seats left. Clearly, the clan connection is driving quite a bit of the demand for places in these affiliated schools.

Nanyang is pretty hot this year. Surprisingly, Henry Park and Catholic High still have some places left... lets see what tomorrow brings.

Won't be surprised to see some SHHK members shift to Chongfu tomorrow.
