    • RE: Q&A - P5 Math

      Anyone to help me in the questions?

      1/3 of the amount of money Oliver has is the same as 2/3 of the amount of money Kayla has.
      a) If Oliver has $60 more than Kayla, how much money does Oliver have?
      b) If Oliver has $120 more than Kayla, how much money does Oliver have than Kayla?

      Kamal bought 143 red markers and black markers. After he gave the same number of red markers and black markers, he was left with 3/7 of the red markers and 1/3 of the black markers. How many black markers did he have left?

      Thanks in advance!

      1)
      The cost of 2 mangoes and 1 apple is $3.40.
      The cost of 1 mango and 2 apples is $2.60.
      Find the cost of a mango.

      2)
      Jessie has a bag of balloons for her class. After giving 8 balloons to each pupil, she would have 4 balloons left. If she gives 5 balloons to everyone, she would have 58 balloons left. How many pupils are there in her class?

      3)
      In a quiz, 4 marks are awarded for every correct answer and 2 marks are deducted for every wrong answer given. Jenny answered a total of 50 questions. How many questions did she answer correctly if she had a score of 140 marks?

      Thanks in advance!

      Hi

      Q2.

      http://i43.tinypic.com/ebebeb.jpg\">

      Q3.
      For every question answered wrongly, marks lost = 4 + 2 = 6 marks
      If all were correct, total marks --> 4 x 50 =200 marks.
      Marks lost for wrong answers --> 200 - 140 = 60
      60 / 6 = 10 --> 10 questions answered wrongly.
      40 questions answered correctly.

      cheers.

      Hi MathIzzzFun,

      Thank you!

      Hi, need to double check.:)

      Q)
      Tin jin saved $3500 in April. His monthly salary is twice the amount he saved in April.
      He saved $4200 less than the amount he spent in May. How much ddi he save in May?

      Is $2800 (saved in May) correct?

      Hi

      spent $5600 & saved $1400 in May.

      Salary --> $3500x 2 = $ 7000
      In May,
      saved --> 1 unit
      spent --> 1 unit + $4200
      2 units + $4200 = $7000
      1 unit --> $1400, spending in May --> $5600

      cheers.

      Hi MathIzzzFun,

      Well noted & thank you! :rahrah:
