NUSH this year is very different. I know many kids who are AL8 above and with many medals, who failed NUSH DSA.

I am not sure what is the criteria now. :scratchhead: It seems NUSH is becoming very competitive (could be more competitive than the traditional top schools).

Congratz to those who managed to get into NUSH this year. That's really a impressive achievement.

      Dear Parents,

For those child who receive CO/WL from NUSH can you kindly share the profile of your child? It will be very helpful for parents like me who looking into future DSA. Wish to gauge are we in the range or should give the school a miss. TIA

Here is my general impression based on following things for a couple of years.

      Academic:
-Math and Science = AL1 for both
-Total = ~AL8 or better (this is just a guess, although previously for the SIE NUSH had flagged students scoring A* for Math and Science plus aggregate t-score > 250)

      Positive Attributes/factors:
      -GEP (given focus on math)
      -Math/Science Olympiad medals
-Any other activities that show passion/interest in math, science, computing, robotics, innovation, curiosity/problem solving, etc.

As for \"in the range or give it a miss,\" I think this partly depends on both a) exactly where you stand and b) what are your other options and how do you utilize the three choices. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a hard in/out cutoff point. Every year there are kids that have a lot of the above that don't make it and some with less (at least with regards to paper qualifications) that do. Obviously, there is some continuum of odds depending on the student's profile (I'm not suggesting every kid has a 1/n shot), but trying to pinpoint this and whether its worth one of a student's three choices is hard to say.

If you are lucky, some more people will reply with profile of students that did/didn't make it this year (you can also read the prior years' DSA threads). However, I would not necessarily get too excited or depressed based on any individual answer. NUSH probably gets 2,000+ applications, and while I don't know for sure I'd bet there will be some similar applications that had the opposite outcome of what gets reported here (although again there will be some pattern here if you see/talk to enough people and certain profiles may have different odds).

      Good luck.

May I ask if your son went for MO training? If yes, which centre did he go to? I am looking for a good MO trainer for my son.

      He went to COCO.

Thanks for sharing. May I find out if your DS has been consistently doing well for his other subjects besides maths? Also, does he take higher MT? My DS (current p5) has platinum and top 20 for smops, gold and Top 30 for nmos, however his subjects other than maths have been AL2 with the odd 3 so far this year. I also (perhaps quite foolishly) allowed him to not do HCL even though he was offered. Do most kids in RI do HMT?

'Do most kids in RI do HMT?' I am yet to find it out. My son is taking HMT in his primary. His MT is AL2.
'My DS (current p5) has platinum and top 20 for smops, gold and Top 30 for nmos' is very good result. Good luck
