RE: St Andrew's Secondary School
Hi all, I’m a SA old boy, was there fr P1 to JC2, so my view maybe (probably is) biased.
I’ve enrolled my son in SA Junior (alumni, no need to do volunteer work) n he’s now taking his PSLE. He’s hoping to go into an IP school but is undecided after a visit to the Adams’ Class in SASS, which is supposed to be 2 classes in the Express stream that will be using more of IT in their curriculum.
St Andrew’s, being a mission school, has stuck to the principle of providing for all and not just the elite among us. Hence, there’d never been any intention to become a Gifted Program School (Primary) or Integrated Program (Secondary). I’ve old classmates who are teaching at SASS so I’m kept informed on how things are there and I am confident that SASS will provide a good environment if DS decides to go there.
Although I can say that most SAJS boys will end up going to SASS, I think those from non-affiliated schools shd not give up hope. My only word of advice, as a parent, is, not to choose a school that is inconvenient for your kids to get to or get home from, as travelling time can be very tiring and disruptive with the added workload in Secondary school. -
RE: DSA 2013
DS going for CHS, tho he doesn’t like the uniform.
anyway, thought the interview and tests will be a good learning experience, whether he makes it or not.
