Nope. Pre covid (my older kid) gotta wear full u mon-thur. After PE must change back to full u. Fri is black polo tee.

Covid time was really free for all. Go sch in shorts and tshirt also can. šŸ˜‰
Black polo tee sounds nice, save the trouble of ironing uniform. šŸ˜‰

Does anyone know what is the intake percentage for science vs arts for J1?

How many BCME and PCME classes are there? Is it a mix of IP and JAE students in each class?
Can I ask a few qns abt NHS? If a child goes in without HCL at sec 1, can the child take HCL ultimately? What is the criteria for HCL?

Yes, think they can but depends on results and teacher's recommendation.

Like in sec 1, if I remembered correctly students can choose to take HCL. If those who taken HCL in pri guess hv more chances than those who may not. But even if students choose to take HCL, it will still depends on school allocation.

My child's classmate who opt for HCL at sec 1 but was not given. Teacher told her that if can show by results, there can still be chance to move into HCL in sec 2. I am not sure what is the criteria and did not get the chance to ask if that classmate will get to move into HCL or not.

Hi bb, can I ask how many classes are there in sec 1 at that time? How many are doing hcl and normal cl?
Hello Dino,
There are 9 sec 1 classes. Not sure how many hcl and cl classes though but would think at least 60-70% are hcl. School did not share how many of each type of classes.

Those students doing hcl stay in their classes and those doing cl will move to another class, not sure if they combine cl classes or not.

Yes, phones are put in class locker every morning and key is return by class rep and kept in General Office.

End of the day, phones will be returned to them. They will have their phones during CCA but may be expected to keep it off during activities which is good.

Hi,

Any parents here have kids in dance society?

It has come to our attention that as long as the girls are not properly attired, they will get push ups punishment and it is issued from seniors like sec 2 and up. They hunt and do checks on the sec 1 girls on daily basis and when they issue push ups, they are not supposed to tell the sec 1 girls that they clocked push ups. In this case, how would the sec 1 know they have mistakes? Wonder does the sec 1 boys in dance society has any punishment so far?

When I mentioned properly attired -
1. It means they need to be in super neat French braids that starts from crown and end off the tail (where they tie the rubberband) with less than middle finger length.
2. Bangs will need to be tie up (not sure how it can be incorporated into French braid), any stray hair all need to be clipped up (If girls have layered hair that will also means her head will end up with more then 5-15 clips)
3. School skirt cannot be 3 fingers above knee (this rule we understand and we can comply)
4. No ankle socks (this rule we understand and can comply too but the senior herself is also wearing ankle socks as well)
5. Last rule that I just got know - rude to seniors will also get push ups, if girls roll eyes also get push ups (frankly, how is the judgement done and very subjective??)

Being new in school it will also means that the girls will need time to learn how to do French braids (they insist no dutch braids allowed as per dance society) by themselves. We all know that this hairstyle is not easy especially for people who does not braid their hair in primary school and it may take months to master it. The girls are only assigned and gone for 1 cca session last Thursday and to-date they have clocked more than 300+ push ups. :yikes:

It is causing unnecessary stress on the girls. Any other sec 1 parent here having this problem?

Hi BB,

Are you informed about the form of punishment via official notification to parent?

Or you know about the details through your child? If so, you may consider to clarify the matter with teacher in-charge directly as sometimes details maybe interpreted wrongly by child.

After clarification, you may discuss with teacher in-charge about your concern if such form of punishment exists.

Every school has its own communication platform for parents to contact personnel in-charge to clarify doubts, to give feedback/suggestions.

I believe teacher in-charge/school is capable to clarify your doubt and address your concern effectively.

Hi TWU,

No, there is no official notification from teachers and we doubt any teachers will send that. If they get punishment from teacher in charge for misbehave, we understand but right now are the senior dancers issuing out punishment based on their judgement and that is totally not right.

Yes, these are the detail provided by my child and within the cca chat group, the sec1 girls are talking about it and I understand their seniors are sending messages to some of the sec 1 girls and asking them to forward text messages to the rest of the group. It consist of messages like how may push ups they clocked and they are expected to clear them and etc.. One senior also mentioned in the message that in the past she went home to cry because of these as well, so from our view, it seems like the senior went through this and wanted this to pass on. It will be a vicious cycle as when the girls get promoted to next level, they will end up doing the same to the juniors and that is not something I would like to teach my child.

I have spoken to a teacher earlier the week and he mentioned that they do not condone such behaviour from seniors but I hear the push up quantity keep increasing by the day. So I am not sure what has been done and would like to see if any other parents are facing the same issue here.

I will be writing in to the teacher this round officially and hope investigation can be done and explanation can be given to all the parents and girls affected. Thanks for your reply šŸ™‚
