Regards the 04Jan's night event, anybody know if girls need to stay back till 8pm, or it is just purely a school-parent event?

based on the orientation info kit, the girls need to be in school from 7.25-8.15pm on Friday 3 Jan.
We probably will go back together with them.

By the way, what do they need to bring for orientation? Just money and water bottle right?
Thursday need to bring change of clothes (PE Attire).

i would like to ask if any of your girls are currently taking 3rd language such as Japanese or other languages? Do they only study the language or would they also need to study things like culture etc? How are your girls managing 3rd language and higher Chinese ?

On one hand, we are happy that our kids got in the school with lesser PSLE stress. Nevertheless, secondary school especially IP programme is a totally new environment for the kiddos. I feel the anxiety as well. Hopefully they can do well and enjoy themselves in secondary school managing the school load even if their T-score is around the COP.

My take is, kids will come around and 开窍 as they mature. Let them enjoy a good holiday after PSLE fr early Oct. I'll somehow 'structure' abit of their time with fun, holidays, sports, craft/hobby (my kid got into photography & started piano lessons). I'll buy as many books & mags esp things on latest gadgets or technology. During the 'long' sch holidays, we baked & cooked dishes together, exploring new recipes. Lifeskills, ready for sch.

      A few points to share:-

      1. After PSLE, it's a good time to let kids do housework, pick up lifeskills. Spore kids are too cushioned & we may be setting them up to be 'helpless' adults. Hope I'm not pairing too harsh a pic.

      2. Keep them active with outdoors sports & activities. If u don't plan a variety of healthy activities, they'll find the easiest to slump on sofa or bed with gadgets & games. This may lead to other future unintended health problems - weak muscles, crooked spine, accumulated body fats, failing eyesight, etc. Poor habits developed e.g. eating chips in bed, sleeping late, lack social interactions skills. Ah yes, I rmbrd this coz I did want my kids to stay single for life not able to 'sweet-talk' themselves into a relationship. :rotflmao:

      3. Keep them reading sth & sharpening the mind. All muscles work the same way, so don't let the brain muscle deteriorate & yr child shld not hv a problem once sec sch starts, to catch up with reading sch work, sans close COP or not.

      4. IP Programme is a lot abt how a child develops learning & managing time & juggling diff proj with diff teammates. I like it coz my child needs that social interaction to test his abundance of ideas. The child essentially needs to learn not only time mgt but learning to be a team player bodes well for their future in society & bz.

I hope other KSP parents can share more of other ideas so that we can hv a treasurecove to dig into to keep different kids happily engaged after PSLE.
